Top NFT Collections and Games this Week – October 1st

top play-to-earn games

The Pudgy Penguins invade Walmart, Gods Unchained keeps the announcements rolling, and more! Let’s take a look at some of the top web3 games and NFT collections from this past week.

Some new announcements, a downsizing, a closure, and AI are in our news this week.

The downsizing comes from Splinterlands, who are also reorganizing to put their Genesis League Sports project under separate leadership from Splinterlands. And while it’s never good to see a company downsizing like this, it does seem to be a good move for the long-term health of the Splinterlands ecosystem. The closure that was announced this week is for StarGarden, though the team hopes to find funding and relaunch at some later point.

AI is actually in quite a lot of news recently. Gabby World one of a number of web3 projects working to incorporate AI into their games, is now in closed beta, with everything in the world generated via prompts given by players to the AI overlord!

As for announcements, there is all kinds of stuff happening!

You can create and earn by making a Boss skin for Boss Fighters, join the open beta of Synergy Land later this month, and create Echoes, or duplicate cards in Parallel to sell to other players! On top of that we have an upcoming preseason launch from Big Time, Sugartown begins their NFT staking program and will soon give the first players access to their first game, Legends of the Mara is now live, Legacy officially launches this month, and Gods Unchained reveals “season two”, with a number of new things coming to their fantasy TCG!

Read on for a look at the most active web3 games and NFT projects for the week. And be sure to keep an eye on our website and Twitter feed for the latest developments in the web3 gaming space!

Nothing really new in the gaming charts this week. Just a few projects exchanging spots.

The Pudgy Penguins launch their real life plush collectibles in Walmart and see a major jump in trading volume this week. The toys connect to the blockchain and are licensed from NFT owners, who will receive dividends from the toys sold! Definitely a huge step for crossing the boundaries between blockchain tech and the real world. Don’t be surprised to see other NFT collections try to imitate this success!

This week Gods Unchained finds themselves in the number two spot — though it seems to be related more to the lackluster activity in the other collections rather than a surge in Gods Unchained trading. However, GU has managed to keep their trading volume in the $5 million range for quite some time now. And with their ‘season two’ on the horizon, they just might be here to stay!
