Top NFT Collections and Games this Week – July 16

top play-to-earn games

The crypto space saw some positive growth this week after a federal U.S. Judge made a ruling in favor of Ripple (XRP) in a lawsuit with the SEC. And while the sales for the larger NFT collections took a hit this week, web3 games saw some growth, especially in the move to earn category!

Court ruling aside, the web3 world continues to grow. And even though Sega appears uncertain about their role in this change, Google sets down a set of rules for allowing games in their play store that include the use of NFTs.

Lots of new betas just starting or beginning to start as well. We have an open beta for Mighty Action Heroes, a first beta season for The Machines Arena, a closed beta test for Cradles, and a new, playable dev snapshot from Deadrop! We also have the imminent mainnet release for Hunters On-Chain, and a chance to mint a Divine Steward for those willing to sacrifice a couple of NFTs from Tearing Spaces!

Player governance also takes a step forward as Star Atlas puts forth their first proposal for vote — one that outlines the rules and procedures for player governance moving forward.

Read on for a look at the most active web3 games and NFT projects for the week. And be sure to keep an eye on our website and Twitter feed for the latest developments in the web3 gaming space!

A new entry vaults to the top of the charts this week. And guess what, it’s a mobile game! Anyone seeing a pattern, here? On top of that, it’s another entry in the move to earn category, putting two walk and earn games in the top 10 this week!

Otherwise, it’s all the usual suspects in the weekly charts, some up, some down. But, for the second week in a row, all of the top 10 games in our charts this week saw over 50,000 active players over this past week! I think this is a significant milestone, and a sign that web3 gaming is here to stay.

NFT collections saw a general downturn again this week, though we still have many millions of dollars changing hands in exchange for NFTs, so it can’t be all bad!

Yuga Labs announced that holders of Bored Apes and Mutant Apes have an open invitation to Apefest in Hong Kong later this year. This hasn’t seemed to have affected the floor price for either collection. They also teased an upcoming announcement for a ‘Made by Apes’ program. We don’t have any details yet, but it seems like it may be some sort of fundraising / incubator program designed to help Ape holders with starting new business ventures. If so, this could potentially turn into something very interesting…
