Chainmonsters Updates Quest System with Alpha-4 Update

chainmonsters 2v2 battle mode

Chainmonsters has released its latest update, which is labeled Alpha-4. The patch has been deployed to all platforms and is currently live. The update includes for example a reworked quest system, the ability to chain elemental abilities together, and various graphical improvements.

Chainmonsters, a massively multiplayer online role playing game on the Flow blockchain, has released its Alpha-4 update. For gamers the completely reworked quest system should be the most notable update. The developers state that they did this to largely to eradicate blocking issues that some players were encountering. Furthermore, they have expanded the battle system, as it now allows multiple mons to take part in battle at the same time. Players can for example swap their Chainmons during battle, adding a new tactical layer to the game.

Other updates include, for example:

  • Reduced the cost and base damage of Flamethrower
  • New UI elements added
  • New encounter zones were added to each area
  • Download size reduced on all platforms
  • Elemental disadvantages temporarily removed
  • Addition of a dynamic game updater

The team notes that they have removed elemental disadvantages temporarily. This will allow the team time to monitor battles and update algorithms as needed. However, these disadvantages will come back to the game at a future date.

Players will need to download the new version on Itch.io on PC/Mac, and GooglePlay/Testflight on Mobile. You may also view the complete update announcement on the team’s Medium post.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. It runs on PC and mobile devices. Players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or region: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo, and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition, each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

On top of that, there are traits. Each monster has up to two traits. Most of them start with one and will learn a second one as they level up. For example, arcane intellect increases the critical hit chance, while haste increases the speed gain on a level-up. There are also traits that increase the attack power, while others decrease certain stats.
