Chainmonsters Closed Alpha in April on Flow Blockchain

The massively multiplayer online role playing game Chainmonsters will launch a closed alpha test on the Flow blockchain in April. In their latest development update studio boss Max Weber announced these plans, as well as the promise to launch the account system and marketplace this month.

Currently 2000 gamers have purchases access to the Closed Alpha of Chainmonsters. This month Bside Games will launch the account system and marketplace, allowing everybody to claim their accounts and trade NFTs. In addition the developers will sell some of the remaining crystal starter monsters, which have been in high demand because of their rarity.

One of the crucial NFTs is the Alpha Access NFT. Owners of this particular NFT can unlock access to the closed alpha test by clicking the claim button. This will then burn the token and make an account eligible for the alpha test phase.

Chainmonsters will be playable on iOS, Android and through Steam. Players can switch platform easily, as long as they are only logged into one version of the game at the time.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. However, players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or regions: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

On top of that there are traits. Each monster has up to two traits. Most of them start with one and will learn a second one as they level up. For example, arcane intellect increase the critical hit chance, while haste increases the speed gain on a level-up. There are also traits that increase the attack power, while others decrease certain stats.

Battles in Chainmonsters are turn-based. While classic monster-catching games offer one-versus-one battles, Chainmonsters gives us 2 vs 2. This allows players to chain and combine attacks, creating strong elemental reactions.

Directly on launch, the game will introduce a season pass with timed events and event exclusive content. The game is running on the Flow blockchain, which allows easy on-boarding for users not familiar with blockchain technology.

Players won’t even notice there’s blockchain technology involved. However, once they dive deeper into the game they will be able to claim their wallet and everything they’ve collected. Gamers can keep, sell or trade all their items on an open peer-to-peer marketplace, like for example Viv3.
