Sandbox Announces Partnership Building TIME Square

The Sandbox, king of outside partnerships in the blockchain gaming world, announced a new collaboration with TIMEPieces, a web3 community initiative from TIME. Probably better known for their physical magazine, TIME has developed a more significant online presence over the past year. This has included web3 development and NFTs. Now they partner with The Sandbox to build a virtual experience called, TIME Square.

TIMEPieces is a collaborative NFT collection created by over forty artists worldwide and curated by TIME’s creative director, D.W. Pine. They have already dropped several NFT collections, and their artist list includes digital artists as well as those completely new to NFTs. Their latest release, the Beatclub Collection, features NFTs with videos synced to custom beats by artist, Timbaland.

Each TIMEPiece provides additional benefits to its owner such as whitelisting and invitation to exclusive events, both virtual and in the real world.

For this particular partnership, TIME will build ‘TIME Square’ in The Sandbox. Note, this is not ‘Times Square’. But they say it will be inspired by the famous New York City neighborhood. And continuing with their community collaboration initiatives, TIME issued an open call for architects who want to try their hand at designing this Sandbox experience. Details about this opening haven’t been revealed, but you can sign up for email notification in this form.

TIME wants their Square to become a virtual destination, hosting virtual discussions and events. They also want to provide additional utility for holders of their TIMEPieces NFTs. They mention ‘unique experiences’, so we’ll see what that really means.

Sandbox Partnerships

just a few of them here

The Sandbox continues to announce new partnerships on a weekly basis. And these aren’t just VCs or hedge funds that most people have never heard of. Some of the famous people and entities that have partnered with Sandbox include Atari, Snoop Dogg, the Smurfs, Cheech and Chong, Deadmau5, Ubisoft, Warner Music, and Adidas! And that’s just a small list.

Despite Facebook’s attempt to make it as lame as possible, metaverse is still a hot term. And the Sanbox metaverse has to be one of the hottest!

Having these well known brands and stars involved with an established blockchain presence like The Sandbox is great publicity. Something the the blockchain gaming scene could use a little more of. And even if most of them build brand themed experiences that are mostly about trying to sell their products, the extra attention they bring to the space is value enough. And who knows, some of them might even make some really kick-ass experiences!

What is The Sandbox?

Built on the Ethereum blockchain (though in the process of migrating to Polygon), The Sandbox is a collection of gaming and social experiences. The Sandbox consists of plots of varying sizes made of voxel-based blocks. Landowners build and customize their own experiences with block editing, hand-crafted assets, and a built-in scripting language. These virtual lands become adventures, virtual shops — whatever their owners imagine and build!

The Sandbox provides free tools for developers and content creators. Using VoxEdit, creators build voxel-based objects for use in-game. Additionally, with the Game Maker users can create all sorts of interactive experiences. The Sandbox continues to announce new partnerships on a regular basis and has already run two alpha tests with play to earn rewards!
