Top NFT Collections and Games this Week – June 4

top play-to-earn games

The year of 2023 is living up to the hype, with something interesting and/or exciting happening every single week! Web3 games continue to bombard us with new mints, releases, and playtests, while many NFT collections saw an increase of sales over this past week.

The biggest news this week comes from a little game franchise you might have heard of called Assassin’s Creed. They are launching a mint for a special, customizable collectible that will be tied to, and verifiable from, the blockchain! This collection will definitely see a ton of interest from the web3 crowd, but it will be interesting to see if it attracts web2 gamers and collectors as well.

And the musical artists deadmau5, through the mau5trap music label, is partnering with Pixelynx for a very unique NFT drop that ties into Korus, their AI, musical creation assistant! If you’re into music, blockchain, and AI, then this drop is for you!

Star Atlas releases an update to their Showroom, which has quickly become a slice of their game universe, including an explorable world, arena combat in space, and a racing game! Mobox moves their efforts cross-chain as they add a new MoDragon, NFT-based game on the Arbitrum chain. Tollan Worlds began the minting ritual for their Genesis Avatars. And Champions Ascension issues a challenge to everyone — assemble your teams and try to be the first to defeat the Boss creature known as Old Sally for bragging rights and rewards!

Read on for a look at the most active web3 games and NFT projects for the week. And be sure to keep an eye on our website and Twitter feed for the latest developments in the web3 gaming space!

An amazing comeback from Splinterlands this week with a huge surge in active players pushing them back into second place! But look out! Here comes Hippo Dash, a pretty simple, mobile, PvE racing game. However, they did just recently open their beta to the general public and run a giveaway contest, which is at least part of reason for the recent rise in player numbers. We’ll see if Hippo Dash can keep their audience entertained next week!

Otherwise, our top 10 chart has the usual suspects, though some have moved around a bit. Both Iskra and Pixels saw huge declines in their active playerbases while Farmer’s World and Superwalk remained strong. There are lots of popular games in the 20-30k range, including Mobox, Meta Apes, Sunflower Land, and Nine Chronicles. Will any of these make their way up? Or will we see another sudden, meteoric launch from a new game next week?

Wow! Look at Gods Unchained go! Not only have they stayed in the top 10 chart for three weeks in a row (something we never see from gaming NFTs), but they even increased their sales over this past week, claiming fifth spot on our charts!

A lot of volatility and spot swapping in the charts this week. And Cryptopunks even falls from the top 10 for the first time in a long while! Hot projects this week include Azuki, Nakamigos, The Captainz, and BEANZ Official. Bored Ape Yacht Club reclaimed their top spot while Pudgy Penguins, a hot item two weeks ago, took a rather bit hit this week.

Nakamigos seems to be a project built on hype alone, with no apparent plan and minimal social media presence. So it’s interesting to see them remain on our charts. Will the hype be enough to maintain this project?
