Decentraland Allows Creators to Make Quests

decentraland in-world land builder

The virtual world of Decentraland has gone next level with the introduction of quests, which are now part of toolkit for creators. Landowners and designers can make quests that span multiple days and for example reward players with NFTs, wearables or a POAP, proof-of-attendance.

Players who’ve been active in Decentraland, probably remember the Halloween and Christmans seasonal events. These virtual events had quests that had different stages, spread out over multiple days. Every curated and approved creator will now have the ability to add such quests to their land.

Of course Decentraland launched the new feature with a couple of examples. The Decentraland Foundation has made The Drink of the Gods, where players need to find ingredients for an elixir. Simply go to Decentraland’s Genesis Plaza, hit the rocket button and start questing. Keep in mind, Decentraland doesn’t work on mobile, yet.

The second quest was made by DappCraft. In SteamPunk players need to help Anna to fix her watch, and by doing so they will receive a reward. Decentraland has more quests in the making. Creators who want to join the quest making program, need to send the team an email.

Earlier this month Decentraland released the beta of their in-world builder. Now creators don’t need to leave the world to build their land. However, not all features are there yet. The current builder SDK still provides a more complete package, but in the future building will happen entirely in-world.

What is Decentraland?

Decentraland is a virtual world build on the Ethereum blockchain. Consumers can buy land within this world, and build anything. Currently ownership over virtual land is highly speculative, and the value of these lands increased significantly over the past year. Decentraland launched in February 2020, and players can now visit by using a web browser on a desktop or laptop. The game celebrated its first year anniversary last week.

Within Decentraland people can build all kinds of businesses, including shops for in-game items, art galleries and games. Decentral Games and Metazone are some of the companies that create games within Decentraland. For example, Metazone is selling complete game installations. Landowners can earn money from those creations, while game creators earn a share of the revenue.
