Blockchain-powered trading card game Gods Unchained will soon introduce the GODS token. Players can use this new ERC-20 token to craft NFTs, purchase card packs from the marketplace and earn rewards by holding the token. In addition GODS represents voting power, giving players a say in the governance of the game.

Immutable promises to integrate the Gods Unchained token completely into the core game systems. They want the token to be an integral part of the game’s play-to-earn mechanics. GODS owners can earn rewards in the game, but also through external avenues.

Token holders who participate in campaigns while actively staking their tokens, can earn rewards in GODS tokens. In addition players can earn staking rewards by completing in-game missions. In addition players can use their GODS tokens to fuse in-game cards into NFTs. The game mints these NFTs onto Immutable X, giving players full ownership.

Immutable hasn’t released their whitepaper yet, but they promised to do this soon. So expect more details in the near future. At this moment we don’t know what will happen for example to the Forge.

More changes on the horizon

Even though they aren’t ready to release their trading card game Gods Unchained on mobile devices, Immutable has communicated that they are making good progress. The team is working on an iOS and Android version of the game and really needs to finetune the touchscreen interface. In addition, the team has already started working on multiple expansions.

Gods Unchained is a collectible card game built on the Ethereum blockchain. The blockchain stores all ownership of the cards, giving players full ownership over their own set of cards. Players earn digital cards by playing the game. When they have two identical cards they’ll be able to mint these into one blockchain-based card. We call these cards non-fungible tokens, and the owners can trade, sell, or use them in the game itself.

Future game mechanics will allow users to create limited edition cards from older cards, making existing cards more rare. In addition Gods Unchained can be enjoyed free-to-play, while players are able to earn cards by being active players. True play-to-earn mechanics there!
