The first private beta for Illuvium Overworld launches on December 12th. With world exploration, resource gathering, battle encounters, and Illuvial capturing, this private beta should give players a chance to test all of the main aspects of the game.
While the Illuvium team has pushed out an earlier beta for their arena fighting game, and released some details about Illuvium: Zero, their land-based game, Illuvium: Overworld is what most Illuvium fans have been waiting for. And now, the first taste is finally arriving!
Overworld Private Beta Info
Supposedly, anyone who already has access to the Illuvium Arena Private Beta (known as PB2 in Illuvium circles), will also have access to the Overworld Private Beta. Scheduled to begin on December 12th, at 1pm CST, those who are in the initial wave of invites should already have an email with details on accessing the beta.
lluvium: Overworld is considered the main game in the Illuvium portfolio. This is where players will explore the world, find resources, and hunt for wild Illuvials to capture. Capturing an Illuvial requires both defeating it in battle, and having the right kind/number of Shards on hand to bind it.
Players can mine Shards in-game, but must pay to have them cured (activated). Only Cured Shards can be used to capture Illuvials. Illuvials (and Shards) range from Tier 0 to Tier 5, with Tier 5 being the rarest and hardest to find.
As with most alphas and betas, don’t expect to keep any items, resources, Illuvials, or experience you earn during this private beta. Everything will be wiped before the open beta beginsThe Illuvium team hasn’t specifically mentioned any special rewards for this beta. But, it’s not unusual for games teams to hand out cosmetic items or special titles for their early testers.

What is Illuvium?
Illuvium is an open-world RPG adventure game built the Ethereum blockchain, and using the Immutable X layer. Players journey across a vast and varied landscape to hunt and capture creatures, or Illuvials. Together with their little tamed creatures, players are tasked with discovering what caused the cataclysm that shattered the world.
Though the core Illuvium game is an open-world adventure game that is part auto-battler and part creature collector, the Illuvium web3 space encompasses more. For example, the upcoming Illuvium Zero will be a land-based builder game. However, this game will still tie into the main game by producing resources for use in Illuvium Overworld.
Illuvium Overworld, the open-world, RPG, will feature over 100 Illuvials to capture, each with different attributes and powers. Capture them, upgrade them and combine two Iluvials to fuse a new one. Gamers earn ILV tokens through play and become part of the community through token ownership. Players can store their Illuvials on Shards, a bit like a collectible card. These cards hold the essence of an Illuvial. Players can trade shards in the marketplace or give them to a friend.
Illuvium has its own marketplace known as the IlluviDex.This will serve as a central point for trading all things Illuvium related in the future, but for now, only land trading is available. Illuvium also includes player governance in the form of a Council that goes through regular election periods.
