The first 12,000 plots in Solarwood, one of the nations in Ember Sword, sold out despite lots of server and blockchain troubles. At the peak of the sale, Bright Star Studios sold 5,000 lands in half an hour. The servers, third-party services and remote procedure call (RPC) protocol couldn’t keep up with the traffic, causing lots of frustration within the community.
We’ve seen plenty of NFT sales in recent months where servers couldn’t keep up with demand. Earlier this week Guild of Guardians had some problems, while a sale for The Sandbox wasn’t reachable for certain parts of the world. Generally these sales events come with a strong influx of users at the same time, and very often traffic exceeds expectations of the developers. Furthermore, sales took place in ETH. However, not in ETH on the Ethereum blockchain, but in WETH on the Polygon blockchain. Another surprise for those looking to buy land.
Anyway, lessons learned. Bright Star Studios will learn from this sale and recognizes that the land sale was a complete mess. That’s why they announced to not increase the land pricing in the second sale. That way everybody will have a chance to acquire land at a discount. However, they didn’t provide a date for the second land sale yet.
The nation of Solarwood will offer space for approximately 40,000 land parcels. Therefore this first land sale of 12,000 plots is only the beginning for Ember Sword. More sales moments will follow in the months to come.

A land plot, which is roughly the size of your game screen, is the smallest piece of land you can buy. For $40 you become a Sir or a Lady, and your land can host campsites, NPC houses, monsters, and resources. For roughly $400, or actually 0,107 ETH, you get a settlement plot. Small-sized buildings can be placed here, for example a guild outpost or some stores.
Pay 2.139 ETH or $8,000 and you get 4 land plots that combine as a town. These allow for bigger buildings, an exchange that connects with the global gaming network. If you really have many to throw around, you could ten times as much and acquire a city.
