Mint NFTs in The Machines Arena

With their third beta season underway, The Machines Arena takes another step forward with implementing their game economy by allowing players to mint skins they earn in-game as NFTs!

The Machines Arena is currently in closed beta testing. But that hasn’t stopped them from releasing a new update that lets players mint their character skins on the Ronin network. This feature just went live at the end of February. NFT minting is available on The Machines Arena website.

At the moment, minting your NFT skins only costs the network gas fee. In the future, there will be some sort of in-game requirement before skins can be minted. So jump in and mint away while it’s (mostly) free!

Minting is done on the Ronin network. So you will need to own and link a Ronin wallet, and have a little bit of RON token as well to pay for the gas fees. The Machines Arena team has put together a short guide on setting up a wallet and acquiring RON tokens. You can read that here.

Players can buy and sell NFTs for The Machines Arena on the Mavis Market. And though there is some activity in the NFT market, the playerbase for The Machines Arena is pretty small at the moment. So there isn’t a huge demand for these NFTs yet.

Players who reach ‘Machine’ rank in ranked PvP during beta season 3 (currently ongoing), will earn a ‘Sandbrushed’ skin for the Riot character. Access to the closed beta requires a key. You can sign up to be on the list here, but they also give away keys as well, so keep an eye on their social media channels.

Also, though the team claims that players will be able to mint all owned skins, that does not seem to be the case. I have earned five skins, but only one of them was mintable. It’s unclear if we’ll be able to mint the others in the future, or if they are in-game items only.

What is The Machines Arena?

The Machines Arena is a quick-paced, action-packed, top down, MOBA game pitting two teams of four players against each other in a variety of game modes. Wielding weapons such as guns, lasers, and flamethrowers, players fight in matches that typically last 5-10 minutes. The Machines Arena offers ten characters to choose from, with an assortment of powers, strengths, and weaknesses. Characters are classed as tank, support, and assault. Working together with your team is crucial for success.

The Machines Arena was not originally planned as a blockchain game. But since their first beta release they have expanded their plans. And after a partnership with Sky Mavis, The Machines Arena now allows players to mint, buy, and sell character skins on the Ronin network.

The game is still in early development, but already boasts a very playable game. You can sign up for the closed beta at https://www.themachinesarena.com/closed-beta
