A new beta season kicks off in The Machines Arena, bringing with it character skins, an in-game store (with a free bundle for every player!), a new game mode, and more! This free to play. MOBA style game also includes a single player challenge and is available through the Epic Games Store.

A new beta season for The Machines Arena began on October 30th. This update not only introduces a number of bugfixes, but it also brings us more, equippable character skins, a new game mode, and an in-game store!

In fact, to help test out the game store, The Machines Arena team is giving away a free bundle of goodies to every player. Just go the Bundles section of the store and claim it! Inside you will find Urellium tokens (used for store purchases), Pulse Coins (for future game use), and an uncommon ‘Playmaker’ skin to use with the Hero, Xe!

The in-game store already offers a number of skins for purchase, including three, limited edition, Halloween-themed outfits. For those who want to pick up thr pricier outfits, the in-game store also supports purchase of Urellium with credit card, crypto, and a number of other payment methods.

And while all skins earned and bought for The Machines Arena are not NFTs, they will be mintable on the Ronin network once the game launches!

What else is new in beta season 2?

The launch of Beta Season 2 brings a number of bugfixes and balance tweaks. In addition, they have changed the Death Run mode so that it is now an endless loop — for all of those players who found completing 20 levels too easy! This release also introduces a number of new enemies such as Slicer Drones, Poisoners, and Flame Turrets!

But to help out with these runs, players can now upgrade their characters with Cores found while playing. At the moment, there is only one skill tree to work with. But the Machines Arena team already has plans to add two more skill trees.

There is also a new game mode called Hand of God. This mode features three players, one as the god player, and two as runners. The two runners are racing to complete AI-generated levels, while the god player adds obstacles and enemies to try and block their way forward during the match. I haven’t had a chance to try this game mode yet, but it seems like it has some potential for fun!

What is The Machines Arena?

The Machines Arena is a quick-paced, action-packed, top down, MOBA game pitting two teams of four players against each other in a variety of game modes. Wielding weapons such as guns, lasers, and flamethrowers, players fight in matches that typically last 5-10 minutes. The Machines Arena offers ten characters to choose from, with an assortment of powers, strengths, and weaknesses. Characters are classed as tank, support, and assault. Working together with your team is crucial for success.

The Machines Arena was not originally planned as a blockchain game. But since their first beta release they have expanded their plans. And a recently announced partnership with Sky Mavis, allows them to introduce digital collectibles that can be minted to the Ronin chain!

The game is still in early development, but already boasts a very playable game. You can sign up for the closed beta at https://www.themachinesarena.com/closed-beta
