Trading volume for wearables in the virtual world Decentraland has increased with 600 percent thanks to newly released football jerseys. In the past seven days there has been 30.99 ETH in trading, which is over 7200 dollars. Each of these limited edition shirts is selling for approximately 23 dollars.

Each of the blockchain-branded teams competing in the Moonshot football tournament inside Decentraland, has their own shirt. In total there are 24 different shirts to collect. These jerseys are obtainable by paying only the transaction fee, but there are only 100 of each. At 9:45 UTC the final group matches will be played, selling the last six shirts.

The Moonshot World Cup Final takes place on July 18th. The winning team wins the The Bullionix World Cup and gold medals for each of the players. The top scorer also wins The Golden Boot trophy.

Strong performance Decentraland

In general the virtual world of Decentraland is doing well on the trading market. With a total trading volume of 369 ETH in the past 7 days, it’s the number one blockchain product according to the charts by Opensea. Trading increased with 282 percent, making it one of the biggest movers. Other virtual worlds also performed well, for example Somnium Space had a 254 percent increase (160 ETH) in trading volume in the past seven days.

In its lifetime Decentraland has been responsible for more than 10 million dollars in trading volume. We’re only talking about virtual land here, and not even about wearables. Currently the cheapest land parcels in Decentraland are 15 thousand MANA, which equals 575 dollars. The average price for a piece of land in Decentraland is 5.16 ETH, or 1200 dollars.

What is Decentraland?

Decentraland is a virtual world build on the Ethereum blockchain. Consumers can buy land within this world, and build anything. Currently ownership over virtual land is highly speculative, and the value of these lands increased significantly over the past year. Decentraland launched in February, and can now be visited by anybody using a web browser on a desktop or laptop.

Within Decentraland people can build all kinds of businesses, including shops for in-game items, art galleries and games. Currently Matic Network is funding the development of additional games. Decentral Games and Metazone are some of the companies that create games within Decentraland. For example, Metazone is selling complete game installations. Landowners can earn money from those creations, while game creators earn a share of the revenue.
