Avocado DAO Guide: How to Make Money, Pros, Cons, and Getting Started

Avocado Dao Guild

Avocado DAO Guild is a blockchain gaming community using a play-to-earn (P2E) model rewarding players with digital assets that have real-world value.

What is Avocado DAO?

Avocado is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) creating a gaming community, also known as a guild, within the metaverse. Avocado DAO is helping to make the metaverse and P2E gaming opportunities more accessible through education and investing in — and lending out — NFT blockchain assets to players for game play.

How Does Avocado DAO work?

Many P2E games require players to purchase NFT (non-fungible token) digital assets to earn additional in-game assets that can be traded or sold on secondary markets. These NFTs can represent assets such as avatars, vehicles, accessories, weapons, and more. Each asset is uniquely identified, and the record of ownership is stored permanently on the blockchain. Once you own an in-game NFT, you can trade or sell it on crypto marketplaces. Learn more with our full video review of the Avocado DAO:

Any questions you may have about the process can be asked in the #scholarship-posts channel. Keep in mind that the more active you are in the Avocado DAO discord, the better of a chance you have to be noticed by leadership and selected for a scholarship!

How do scholars earn real-world money as members of the Avocado DAO?

Let’s take a look at one of the more popular P2E games, Axie Infinity. Axie Infinity players must purchase at least three Axies, Pokemon-type characters that can be bought, bred, and battled against each other, to win Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies known as Smooth Love Potion (SLP). SLPs can be sold for fiat, which is a government-backed currency like the USD.

Getting started with P2E games like Axie Infinity can be cost-prohibitive for some players. The average cost of an Axie varies, but it can cost you up to $300 – $400 to play the game. With Avocado, players can apply for a scholarship to get the NFT assets, such as Axies, required to start earning.

While each game is unique, the P2E principle is the same. Purchase the initial NFT asset required to earn, start playing and earning more in-game assets, then sell and trade those assets for more NFTs or real-world money (fiat).

Scholars generate yield for themselves and the guild as part of a 50-50 split scholarship agreement. This helps bring funding back into the guild that can be used to onboard more scholars.

How to make money as a manager

Because scholars are an integral part of the Avocado ecosystem, managers are needed to recruit, onboard, train, educate, and provide support.

While the process for becoming a manager is not publicly posted anywhere, Avocadians can earn rewards for contributing to the community, hosting community events, becoming a guild leader, or even participating in tournaments on behalf of the guild. Engaging with the community and staying visible is your best bet at getting noticed by leadership. Once you have built some reputation as an active community member, message someone from the leadership team and ask them about the process of becoming a scholar manager.

Avocado DAO Guild pros

Lending NFT assets to scholars

The value of NFTs can vary, and the cost of purchasing an initial NFT asset to begin earning in a P2E game can be prohibitive for some. That’s where the Avocado DAO Guild comes in, investing in and lending NFT assets in the form of scholarships to players (known as scholars) so they can start playing and earning digital NFT assets.

Avocado Guild also provides its community of scholars resources, education, and mentorship needed to thrive in the blockchain gaming space. Avocado gives its scholars the NFTs they need to play to earn, the scholars give their time to play and earn, and the revenue is shared throughout the community.

Enriching, educating, and empowering scholars

Avocado Guild doesn’t just lend NFT assets to players who want to earn from P2E games. It also educates and empowers scholars to increase their chances of in-game success, as well as the success of the community as a whole.

The Avocado Guild onboarding process includes getting new members up to speed with the right tools and information to start earning. Education and mentorship programs enhance gameplay, earning potential, and crypto literacy.

Avocado Guild centers around three philosophies:

  • Play2Enrich
  • Play2Educate
  • Play2Empower

Avocado has over 10,000 scholars onboarded and learning about the fundamentals of blockchain metaverses. It is also strengthening gaming communities, particularly in Southeast Asia, where gamers are using P2E to pay for housing, food, and utilities.

Many of the guild’s 10,000 scholarship recipients live in the Philippines and Indonesia. Avocado has even partnered with internet service provider TPG Telecom, which accepts Avocado coin ($AVG) for phone service and mobile data payments.

Avocado DAO Guild cons

Requires some upfront time and effort to get a scholarship

Getting a scholarship with a game guild can be exciting, especially with the prospect of earning money in mind. However, it can take some upfront time and effort to secure that scholarship. As with any game guild, you can expect some wait time before getting started.

Avocado history

Before he was the founder of Avocado DAO Guild, Brendon Wong was a serial entrepreneur who founded five start-ups. In 2021, Wong found an opportunity to use crypto to change people’s lives through P2E gaming, and Avocado Guild was launched with token loans for Axie Infinity.

Since its inception, Avocado has launched its token, $SAVG, raised $18M in Series A funding, onboarded 10,000 scholars, added six gaming partners, and provided aid to victims of Typhoon Odette in the Philippines.

The Avocado leadership team includes Sherwin Lee, lead advisor; David Shi, operations lead; and Sunny Huang, community and culture manager. This group of contributors currently guides the guild’s direction. However, because Avocado is a DAO, control will eventually go to the $AVG token holders, who will have the right to vote on DAO decisions and self-govern the community.

Avocado tokens

In December 2021, Avocado DAO issued the AVG Token, a governance token issued as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. The DAO will eventually be self-governed by AVG token-holders, allowing holders to have voting rights on the direction and management of the guild. Token-holders can also exchange AVG tokens for mobile data and credits with TPG Telecom.

Avocado DAO staking

Avocado DAO gives token holders the option to stake $AVG tokens for a minimum of three, six, nine, or 12 months. In the crypto world, staking is a way of earning rewards for holding (or HODL-ing, an acronym for “hold on for dear life” used in the crypto and NFT communities). Think of staking like an interest-bearing savings account — you earn a percentage-rate reward over time for “staking” your holdings.

How to buy Avocado DAO tokens

Before you can exchange Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH) for AVG, you’ll need to set up a self-custodial wallet like Coinbase.

Step 1: Download a self-custodial wallet such as Coinbase

Step 2: Transfer or buy cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum into your wallet

Step 3: Trade ETH or BTC for AVG. If you’re using Coinbase, you can trade your ETH for AVG directly from the mobile app by clicking on the Trade tab (use the Convert button if you’re using the browser extension) and then select the Avocado DAO token (AVG).

The AVG token can also be purchased at top cryptocurrency exchanges such as MEXC, Uniswap (V3), ZT, AEX, and Uniswap (V2).
