Genopets Roadmap Update

Genopets roadmap banner

Having completed their first roadmap (titled Crafting and Nurture) with the implementation of wearable Augments, Genopets brings us their roadmap for the next phase, this one titled The Road to Market!

Genopets introduced customization of NFT Pets with Augments not long ago. This completed their previous roadmap, so now they introduce us to a new one, focused on Augments and PvP games! This next phase is also flagged as the ‘final road to phase II’. Implying that there will be a new phase after this — perhaps even an official launch?

Whatever the far future holds is still unknown. But we do know a bit about Genopets’ plans for the near term, which include Augment stats, Augment recycling and re-rolling, an in-app, player to player marketplace, and more! Let’s take a look at some of it.

Augments Updates

Augments have been around for a while in Genopets. But it was just recently that they became wearable. However, Augments are just cosmetic at the moment. But that will soon change as the next item up on the Genopets roadmap is Augment stats. Genopets have three stats that can be increased via Augments, attack, speed, and defense. These will be used in two other upcoming features, Step Battles, and turn-based, PvP combat.

And for the crafters, they will also implement Augment recycling, expediting, and re-rolling. We don’t yet have any details on these features, but these will all likely incur a cost of GENE or KI tokens. And you can also expect that recycling Augments will return fewer materials than were used to craft it in the first place.

The addition of an in-app, player to player marketplace will help facilitate the buying and selling of Augments, letting players find the perfect Augments for their Pet, and allowing dedicated crafters a chance to earn some tokens for their efforts.

Streaks and Updated Homepage

To encourage regular use. Genopets will also implement streak bonuses. Players who walk and keep their Genopets fed and happy on a consistent basis can earn special rewards and prizes.

Along with these new features comes an updated homepage, allowing players easier access to all of the offered functionality.

Step Battles and PvP

Genopets includes a new game on their roadmap. Known as Step Battles, this feature pits players against each other in challenge events to accumulate the most steps in a certain amount of time.

There will also be a future, turn-based PvP game where players use their Genopets in battle against each other. Augments will play a crucial role in these contests, but we don’t have any details on the game itself yet.

What is Genopets?

Genopets is a free-to-play, move-to-earn game built on the Solana blockchain. When using the Genopets app, players collect steps while walking. They convert those steps into Energy, and then use that Energy to level up their Pet or exchange for KI tokens. KI tokens are the main currency in Genopets and used to craft Crystals, upgrade Pets, and maintain Habitats.

Genopets visually change as they level up. Higher level Pets also offer a better step to Energy conversion rate. Genopets recently introduced new level-based Energy conversion system that greatly reduced the amount of Energy generated by players. Especially those with low level Genopets.

Genopets features a number of NFTs, as well as the new style ‘SFTs’ for stackable resources. The main NFTs are Genesis Genopets and Habitats. SFT Resources include Raw Crystals, Refined Crystals, Terraform Seeds, and Pet Augments. Pet Augments are used to customize the Genopets.

Genopets is currently in closed beta, though finding an invitation code is not difficult.
