Top NFT Collections and Games this Week – May 14

top play-to-earn games

We hit mid-May with continued releases from web3 games, and continued volatility in the world of NFT collections. This week also shows us the power a single tweet can have on the speculative, crypto markets.

With summer rapidly approaching (for the northern hemisphere anyway), gamers sometimes start looking for new games to occupy them over the coming months. And while traditional games still dominate the markets, there are plenty of choices in web3 gaming as well!

The options continue to grow this week with an upcoming Mirandus playtest, a May Festival event in The Sandbox, an open, Community Beta for Blocklords, and a new season with an improved player experience in Axie Origins!

Community created virtual worlds continues to be a growing, and still wide-open space in the web3 scene. NFT Worlds has been burning the candle on both ends over the past year as they worked to rebuild from the ground up. It will still be a few months before they re-release their gaming worlds, but in the meantime, they have rebranded and are now known as Topia. They also re-issued all of the World NFTs in a new format (though all the details remain the same). Worlds Beyond joins the virtual worlds crew, with a focus on templates, AI assistance, and allowing easy exporting, copying and monetizing for their content creators!

Read on for a look at the most active web3 games and NFT projects for the week. And be sure to keep an eye on our website and Twitter feed for the latest developments in the web3 gaming space!

Iskra sees another huge drop in player numbers this week, as Alien Worlds reclaims their long-held top position. Splinterlands, Upland, and Benji Bananas also took big hits as well. Planet IX surges as they continue to update their game and are in the midst of selling shares for the major, in-game corporations.

Elon Musk still has the power to move markets with a single Tweet. And to be honest, that’s a bit disconcerting. On the back of a random tweet from Musk, Milady Maker shoots to second place on our charts this week with a 170% increase in sales volume from the previous week!

Otherdeeds see a resurgence, mainly on the back of a sale of a rare plot for over $300k! And Pudgy Penguins made a splash this week when they raised $9 million USD in a seed round to expand their IP and grow their ecosystem. They also teased some sort of announcement or release next week!
