On May 15th, Gala Games will launch a new version of the GALA token. Known as GALA v2, this token will completely replace the current token. Current token holders shouldn’t need to do anything as they will receive an airdrop of the new tokens based on a snapshot that will be taken on May 15th.
Gala Games announced a major change coming, with an upcoming launch of a new version of their GALA token. This will replace the old token at a 1 to 1 ratio, with automatic airdrops for anyone holding onto GALA. The team recommends that users remove all of their GALA tokens from any liquidity pools before the snapshot on May 15th.
Everyone who holds GALA token on Ethereum will automatically receive an airdrop of the new v2 token. Gala Games says that they will work with exchanges to try and make the transition as smooth as possible, but the only guarantees come from holding your own coins.
This new contract is likely an important step towards the full integration of GALA token and their GYRI chain. Once the new token launches, the old token will no longer be usable in the Gala Games ecosystem.
This new token comes with a brand new contract which offers new and improved functionality to the Gala team. This includes enhanced burn mechanisms as well as better security and room for future upgrades. TOWN to GALA
Gala also recently discontinued the TOWN token for their Town Star game. This is part of an ongoing effort to make GALA the central currency for their GYRI blockchain and provide the token with ongoing value.
For anyone that still has the old TOWN tokens, those can be swapped at a rate of 1.25 TOWN to 1 GALA. To do so, go to your inventory page on the Gala Games website, select your TOWN token, and you should see a burn option. The option for burning TOWN token opened in early March and should remain available for at least six months. Anyone who swaps after the V2 token launch will receive GALA V2 tokens in exchange.
