Influence dropped a major update on their community this week, including new tokenomics, another asteroid sale, and a general timeframe for the game’s official launch!

Influence dropped a huge announcement earlier this week with tons of information, including updates about their planned game launch, an upcoming Asteroid sale, and SWAY distribution and tokenomics!

You can see the full blog post here, but continue reading to get a summary of what was covered.

Influence Game Launch

Wisely, the Influence team didn’t provide an exact date for the game’s launch. Just a general, ‘summer of 2023’. There will be a final testing event sometime before then.

And to help players get started carving out their spot in Adalia, Influence will provide special starter packs to anyone who purchased and held an Asteroid from the Arrival sale (all the way back in April of 2021). These starter packs include extractors and warehouses for acquiring resources, a commemorative Founder’s card, and at least one ship with a full tank of fuel! The type of pack received is based on the size of the Asteroid (small, medium, and large). See the chart below for details.

Asteroid Sale

If you don’t already own a an Influence Asteroid, or you just want to add to your holdings before the game launches, there will be another Asteroid sale running from April 11th to April 18th, 2023

Asteroids are priced based on their surface area. The price for each Asteroid is $65 plus 2 dollars per km². So with the smallest Asteroids sized at 13 km², the cheapest price would be $91 (USD). Asteriods come in a wide variety of sizes and types. You can learn more about Influence Asteroids on the official wiki page.

These Asteroids come with a free Crew Member, and also offer owners the opportunity to join in on the sale of SWAY tokens, which will happen in the same time frame.

SWAY Sale and Tokenomics

Concurrent with the April Asteroid sale will be a sale of SWAY tokens. Everyone who owns an Asteroid or Crew member can purchase SWAY for the price of $1 USD per 10,000 SWAY tokens. Each Asteroid and Crew allows the owner to purchase up to $2,500 worth of tokens.

April 11th will also allow those who earned SWAY from early sales or community events to claim their rewards. All SWAY acquired during this period will be non-transferrable until the game launch.

SWAY will be capped at 130 billion tokens total. Distribution will be as follows:

  • 15 billion available during the SWAY sale
  • 15 billion available at launch for purchase
  • 30 billion distributed to players holding Crew (with bonuses for also holding the associated Asteroid)
  • 22.5 billion for players who participated in the alpha tests and various community events
  • 15 billion for those who refer new players who make a purchase
  • 32.5 million used to provide initial depth to the order books for the in-game market

There is a lot more info about SWAY distribution and tokenomics in the official blog post for those who want to dive deeper.

What is Influence?

Influence is a space-based MMORPG. In Influence, a colony ship has arrived at its destination, only to find uninhabitable planets. After much debate, the ship commander decides that the passengers and crew would set up camp in an asteroid belt and begin building a new civilization. Players have already begun to lay claims to Asteroids in the belt, and soon will come mining crews, bases, merchants, wealth, and inevitably, conflict.

In addition to the Asteroids and Ships, players also own Crew NFTs. Crew have the option of creating a background storyline. This is done through a text story where the player makes choices for the Crew member. Based on those choices, the Crew member receives certain traits that affect their in-game skills, allowing players to personalize their NFTs.

Influence is offering some other unique features that make it stand out. Mainly, its adherence to a realistic simulation. Not only are the resource production processes complicated and based on real life, but the Asteroids themselves include orbital dynamics! This is not a static map. All the Asteroids are constantly moving in their orbits. Each Asteroid has an orbital period (how long it takes to complete one orbit), a semi-major axis (how far it is from the center), inclination (how angled the orbit is off from the orbital plane), and eccentricity (how stretched the orbit is from a perfect circle)! This all plays into effect as time progresses, causing the distance between any two Asteroids to vary daily!

There certainly will be a lot to process in this game. Luckily, some people are already building tools to help players figure out the complex production processes.
