Bored Ape Power Source Mint; Otherside Second Trip

Racing through the Sewers finally pays off as the Bored Ape Yacht Club open their Power Source mint. In addition, a ‘Second Trip’ event to the Otherside will happen in late March. But this time, Otherdeed owners can bring their friends!

Bored Apes owners have less reason to be bored as the BAYC ecosystem has plenty in store for the coming months. In addition to the now available Power Source mint, the Bored Ape Yacht Club will give the owners of Otherdeeds a chance to experience the Otherside in a Second Trip event later in March!

Power Source Mint

The Dookey Dash competition has ended, with players having done their best to get as far as they can in this ride through the sewers game. Now, all participants are eligible to mint their NFT reward!

Players who own a Sewer Pass and made a run through the Dooky Dash can now mint their Power Sources. The metadata for the Sewer Passes contain the final ranking score, and an additional ‘Companion’ trait for some. There are eight different types of Power Sources. The type of Power Source players mint is based on the ranking score of the Sewer Pass. The Companion trait passes to the Power Source as well.

These Power Sources will receive an additional, final metadata update in early April to reveal the Mech that is inside / created from the Power Source. More details about all of this should arrive in the coming weeks.

But not all of the available Sewer Passes were minted. And some of them didn’t even participate in the contest, meaning that there are more Power Sources available than there are potential claimants. So, the Bored Ape team will keep all of the unclaimed Power Sources and distribute them in future events and giveaways.

If you plan on buying a Sewer Pass to obtain a Power Source, make sure that it hasn’t already been used! This should be obvious, as the NFT image will have a big VOID stamp across it.

A Second Trip to the Otherside

The Bored Apes also announced upcoming plans for a ‘Second Trip’ to the Otherside. The First Trip was quite successful and was an impressive showing of their tech.

The Second Trip will take place on March 25th. BAYC has not given us the exact time yet, but they say that later joiners may not be able to participate. This time around, Otherdeed holders can even invite a guest along for the experience! Though again, we don’t yet have any information on how the guest invitations will work.

To make sure you get the final details for the Second Trip, join the Otherside Discord, follow BAYC on Twitter, and keep an eye on the Yuga Labs news page!

In addition, this Trip offers another chance for Otherdeed owners to acquire the First Trip Obelisk piece, a metadata update to their NFT that will have some future effect. Yuga Labs says that they will continue to support Otherdeed holders with other opportunities to obtain the First Trip Obelisk piece even after the Second Trip. So don’t fret too much if you can’t make it to this event.

What is the Otherside?

Otherside is a Metaverse project by Yuga Labs, the founders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. It is a world of floating islands, each one an NFT Otherdeed (100,000 in total). Otherdeeds come in different tiers, which affects their appearance and their resource production. Each plot can produce up to four different resources. Some lands come with special Artifacts or Koda visitors. We don’t know what effect these special bonuses have, but it will likely be something good. The land NFTs are dynamic, designed to change and evolve based on the owner’s actions.
