The Sandbox brings us another land sale, though this one features a new raffle-based, whitelisting system. With over 1,900 lands available in three waves, The Sandbox kicks things off with signups for phase one, California Dreamin’, on November 24th.
Space for new land sales is already growing scarce in The Sandbox. But rather than hosting another frantic, click fast, land rush that leaves many users frustrated, The Sandbox decided to implement a raffle-based, whitelist system for their latest sales. And it all starts with California Dreamin’!
There are two raffles available, one for regular lands, and one for premium lands. Players can enter both raffles, but can only win a whitelist spot in one. Winners have the opportunity to purchase a single land plot when the sale opens. This sale window only lasts for 24 hours.
To enter the raffle(s), players need to have a verified account (KYC required), and hold at least 1011 SAND in their linked Polygon wallet. There is no charge to enter the raffle.
Signup for the California Dreamin’ raffle begins on November 24th at 3pm UTC and runs through November 28th. Results are announced on November 29th at 11am UTC, with the sale opening an hour later. The sale runs for 24 hours then on November 30th, at 1pm UTC, the auctions open for any remaining lands. These auctions only last for 24 hours a well.
California Dreamin’ Land Sale
The land plots available for the California Dreamin’ sale are in a neighborhood that is already occupied by some big names such as Snoop Dogg, Tony Hawk, and Playboy.
The California Dreamin’ sale includes 237 regular lands, and 68 premium lands. There will also be 31 estates and 10, 1×1 plots auctioned on OpenSea.
Once the sale begins, raffle winners are assigned a random plot from among those available. Regular plots cost 1,011 SAND tokens. The Premium lands for this sale will be located next to a brand or IP partner’s Estate and grant premium NFTs linked to the LAND sale’s partners (NFTs airdropped at the end of the sale). Usually The Sandbox advertises the planned Premium NFTs, but this time around, they have not. So I guess the Premium plots will receive mystery NFTs! Purchasing a Premium Land plot costs 4,683 SAND.
Any whitelisted land that are not purchased will be put up for auction on OpenSea.
This is just the first of a series of three land sales for The Sandbox. Wave two, the Galleria, will kick off soon after the first wave completes. The third and final wave is expected to launch in early 2023.
What is The Sandbox?
The Sandbox is a collection of user-created gaming and social experiences consisting of plots of varying sizes made of voxel-based blocks. Landowners build and customize their own experiences with block editing, hand-crafted assets, and a built-in scripting language. These virtual lands become adventures, virtual shops — whatever their owners can imagine and build!
For those interested in creating games or game assets, The Sandbox provides free tools for that. Using VoxEdit, creators build voxel-based objects for use in-game.
