Gods Unchained Begins Cosmetics Migration

Cosmetic NFTs, long a part of Gods Unchained, have languished in limbo on the Ethereum blockchain after Gods Unchained migrated to Immutable X. But, at long last, the Great Cosmetics Migration has begun and players will soon be able to freely trade these items!

Gods Unchained offers players a number of ways to customize their play experience with cosmetic items. Much like avatar skins in FPS games, these cosmetics let players show off a bit to their opponents. They come in the form of boards, which alter the owner’s side of the play area, trinkets, two of which can be displayed on each player’s side, and card backs, cosmetic changes to the visuals of the cards.

Unfortunately, when Gods Unchained moved onto the IMX platform, these items stayed behind. And while players could still use ones they owned in-game, trading them has been impossible for some time. But that will soon change with the Great Cosmetics Migration, which has already begun!

This migration will happen in phases and includes Lysander’s Spear, the special trinket reward from the Light’s Verdict mini-expansion. It also includes all the trinkets, card backs, and boards from both Genesis and the Trial of the Gods sets.

Once the migration completes, these items will be tradeable on IMX and partner markets such as Token Trove. At the time of this article, only the Lysander’s Spear trinkets had been migrated.

If you own any of these legacy items, you need to have the wallet with them connected to your Gods Unchained player account. The wallet must also be connected to IMX. If you don’t do this, your items will not be migrated. The GU team says the migration will finish by the end of November.

What About Chests?

Unfortunately, this migration does not include Chests. Chests are a group of six packs of cards from the related set. Due to some technical complications, Gods Unchained doesn’t support the trading of card packs. So they came up with Chests as a sort of middle ground solution. Once a Chest is opened, the cards for all six packs inside are generated and revealed. However, until then, the contents are still unknown and completely random.

Since these are the last ways to generate new Genesis and Trials of the Gods cards, they will likely be in some demand once they become available for trading. However, due to the complex nature of these Chests, their migration is delayed. And we don’t have a target date for it either. Hopefully soon!

What is Gods Unchained?

Gods Unchained is a free-to-play, collectible card game. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Gods Unchained uses the Immutable X layer-2 solution for gas-free trading. Players retain full ownership over their cards. Players can earn digital ‘Core’ cards by playing the game. When a player has two identical Core cards, they can mint these into one blockchain-based card. That card is then tradeable on the markets.

Gods Unchained offers several play and earn opportunities. Players gain cards by being active players, win packs while competing in the weekend tournaments, and earn GODS tokens by playing daily.

With three card sets under its belt and a fourth in the balancing phase, Gods Unchained has a wide variety of cards for different playstyles. Gods Unchained currently sells packs for Mortal Judgment. Players can buy and open packs from the official site. Secondary sales are available on IMX and Token Trove.
