As promised earlier this year, Champions Ascension has began opening previews of their world. These previews, known as Slice of Massina, allow players to interact in a limited section of the multiplayer game. While there, they can also play in a couple of mini-games, and win tickets, which can be redeemed for various prizes.
Players need to own a Champion NFT to enter the Slice. The player selects their NFT when they start the game, which becomes their in-game character, including all of the different characteristics, from character types to tails to halos, etc. All of these are rendered in-game, making every player character truly unique!
Crab Racing and Drunk Racing
These previews feature two in-world mini-games that players can participate in. They are Crab Racing and Drunk Racing. Crab Racing is a passive event. Select your crab type, wait for the match to start, and then pray to the RNG gods. Crabs will randomly do things during the race that can effect them and other crabs. Sometimes is something as simple as turning rather than walking straight. Other times it may be a crab bouncing around the board like a pinball, knocking everyone else it hits off course — or maybe across the finish line!
Drunk racing involves actively running between checkpoints and getting drunk along the way. Each checkpoint (including the start), requires chugging one ale. Each time, the drinking player’s vision gets a little blurrier and their movement controls become more erratic. Whoever can complete all eight checkpoints first wins. I gave it a try and couldn’t even make halfway through!
For each mini-game, the top three finishers earn tickets. Three tickets for first place, two for second, and one for third. Players who collect 50 tickets can exchange them for a ‘Meme-o-rabilia’ box. This box will contain a random item, but won’t be revealed until after at least one person has completed each of the Emperor’s Challenges. The first player to complete one of these quests unlocks a slot on the Cypher Wall and also wins a special prize. Eight of twelve have been unlocked, and the current status can be seen on the Emperor’s Challenge page.

What is Champions Ascension?
Champions Ascension is an upcoming, gladiatorial combat game built inside a virtual world. Though the 3D combat was the original selling point, and the centerpiece of the game, Champions Ascension is also building an open world around it. One where players can walk around and interact, that includes crafting, breeding, land ownership, an in-game marketplace, a staking system, mini-games, and more!
Champions Ascension held an initial sale of Prime Eternals in early 2022. With only 7,622 in existence, Prime Eternals grant many benefits that other characters won’t receive. This includes guaranteed land mints, special breeding options, early access, and, recently released, an airdrop of Pet NFTs. Prime Eternals are generative NFTs with varying attributes that function as in-game characters and as profile picture NFTs.
