In Parallel to the Alpha Season 3, The Sandbox has announced two new contests for creators. First, the “90’s Nostalgia in Web3” is a themed contest in which participants have to create a digital asset of their favorite icons from the 90s using the VoxEdit platform. The second contest is the Care Bears Game Jam, in which players have to create a game experience inspired by the Care Bear Universe. Winners of both contests will receive a prize pool amounting to 15,000 SAND and 30,000 SAND tokens, respectively.

On August 24, The Sandbox launched Alpha Season 3, showcasing over 100 experiences, 13 avatar collections, and 16 NFT collections. The Sandbox has collaborated with several companies and brands to launch contests and game jams, including The Walking Dead, Steve Aoki, Sueco, Warner MusicCare BearSmurfsAtariSnoop Dogg, and several others to create experiences for the Alpha Season 3. 

A total of 22 such brands collaborated with The Sandbox to create their experiences in Season 3 where fans could interact with the branded content. Some other ongoing Sandbox contests include a Metaverse writing contest in collaboration with HackerNoon and the Ragnarok Game Jam in collaboration with Gravity.

90’s Nostalgia in Web3 Contest

The Sandbox has launched the 90’s Nostalgia contest in partnership with Coinbase Wallet. The objective is to create an original digital asset of any 90’s icon using The Sandbox’s free VoxEdit software. Participants have to submit a GIF of a fully animated asset and tweet the asset’s GIF mentioning @VoxEdit, @TheSandboxGame, and @CoinbaseWallet on Twitter.

The submissions started on September 1, 2022, and will remain open until September 13, 2022. To submit, users must fill out this form. The judging of submissions will be done by The Sandbox and Coinbase Wallet team.

Rewards: A total of 15,000 SAND tokens will be distributed among the top 10 winners. The prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are 6000, 3500, and 2000 SAND tokens, respectively. The 4th to 10th place winners will receive 500 SAND tokens each. In addition, the top 3 winners who use Coinbase Wallet will also receive an Alpha Pass.

Care Bears Game Jam

The Care Bears Game Jam has also been launched by The Sandbox, where players can create experiences in The Sandbox metaverse based on Care Bears animated series. The Care Bears was an animated TV series that ran from 1985 to 1988 and was loved by millions of children. 

The objective of this contest is to create a playable game based on Care Bears. Participants can use already available assets or create their own. The entries must be designed using Game Maker software and have some quests and missions to make it interactive.

Each game must have features inspired by the Care Bears Universe, containing at least 25 different assets. In addition, the minimum time duration of a single game must be 5 minutes.

How to submit an entry?

Participants must submit the games from the Game Maker Gallery option and add a short description. After the submission, you must also submit your game through this google form. This is mandatory, failing which the entries will be canceled. The Care Bears Game Jam begins on September 5, 2022, and will end on September 25, 2022. The results will be announced on October 22, 2022.

What are the Judging criteria and rewards?

A total of 30,000 SAND tokens will be divided among the winners as follows:

  • 1st place: 12,000 $SAND.
  • 2nd place:7000 $SAND.
  • 3rd place: 4000 $SAND.
  • 4th to 10th place: 1,000 $SAND each

Entries will be judged out of 100 points based on overall idea (25 points), game design (25 points), creativity (25 points), playability (25 points), and bonus points/wow factor (extra 25 points).
