Breed New Axies During Lunacian Summer Event

Axie Lunacian Summer banner

Axie Infinity brings us a new breeding event called Lunacian Summer. For a limited time, Axie owners can breed their Axies to create offspring with new, Summer parts. Available for only 50 days, Axies with these Summer parts are sure to become collector’s items. In addition, Axies can also be born with Shiny parts and special Summer bodies!

With their game reboot, Axie Origins, in the final stages of testing before the official release, Axie Infinity offers Axie owners a chance to create new Axies with special, limited edition parts. Called Lunacian Summer (sorry southern hemisphere!), nine different parts are available.

We haven’t been given an official end date. But 50 days from the kickoff would put us at September 1st. And since it takes some time for Axie eggs to hatch, you will want to get started ASAP! This special event kicked off on July 13th, so the first Axies with Summer parts won’t appear until the 20th at the earliest.

Breeding Axies is really a game in itself. If you’re serious about trying to get some of these Summer skins, I suggest you start with the official Discord channel to find tips and links to useful tools.

Lunacian Summer Event

Unlike some of the previous breeding events, the Lunacian Summer coats require breeding Axies with specific traits. Put two Axies together with the right traits, hatch the egg, and hope for the desired outcome!

But, of course, breeding is not always a predictable science. In order to receive the new Summer part, the Axie offspring has to inherit the correct, dominant gene (see the chart for details). Players can breed Axies with multiple compatible parts to increase their chances of receiving a Summer part. Summer parts are really skins rather than new parts. They have the same stats as the parts they replace, but they are a special, limited edition skin. A collector’s item.

On top of the new Summer parts, there are also new Summer bodies available. However, these only appear on Axies that have six Summer parts, so these will be very rare. In addition, Summer parts have a chance of being Shiny. Each Summer part has a 1% chance of mutating into the Shiny version. Breed together two Axies who both have 6/6 Summer Parts, and the chance for Summer Shiny parts increases to 5%.

Summer parts and bodies are both inheritable while this event lasts. Though once the event ends, these new Summer parts and bodies won’t ever appear in new Axies.

What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is a creature battler and breeding game. Originally on the Ethereum network, Axie Infinity moved to the Ronin sidechain in 2021, and launched a staking system for their AXS governance token. In the game players use a team of three Axie NFTs to battle opponents in Adventure mode (PvE) and the Arena (PvP). Rewards from the Arena include Smooth Love Potions (SLP) and AXS, the governance token for Axie Infinity.

Players use SLP to breed new Axies. Parent Axies can only produce offspring a limited number of times. Players use Runes and Charms they find in PvE mode to provide boosts to their Axies. With a large userbase, an overhaul to their PvE and PVP combat and leveling system, and upcoming land-based gameplay, expect Axie to remain in the news, especially with land gameplay on the horizon!
