The Sandbox and The Smurfs Game Jam Event Starts June 20

The Smurfs Game Jam

After the Voxodeus Game Jam, The Sandbox launches a Smurfs-themed game-building competition. As with previous game jams, participants will use of The Sandbox Game Maker software to create games inspired by The Smurfs universe. The Game Jam is scheduled to start on June 20, 2022, and winners will be decided at the end of the contest through a judging panel consisting of The Sandbox and The Smurfs staff.

What are Smurfs NFT collections?

The Sandbox marketplace already has plenty of The Smurfs NFT collections and assets that you can use in your game. You can build iconic towns and new experiences with the Smurfs NFTs that will give your world an exciting look. The NFTs have different rarities ranging from Legendary, Epic, Rare, to Common. Some of the NFTs available on the marketplace are Smurf’s train, Smurf’s ship, spaceship, Papa Smurf’s chair, bookstand, and much more.

How to participate in The Sandbox X The Smurfs Game Jam?

Participants who are eligible to create a Sandbox account can enter the Game Jam competition. You can participate on your own or make a team of a maximum of four members. The games must be made using The Sandbox game maker software and the personal assets can be created using VoxEdit software. The criteria of valid entry for a game is that the game must have some playable features like quests and missions and must follow the theme of the contest that is “The Smurfs Universe”. Participants can visit The Sandbox metaverse to collect ideas that they can use in the games.

Features and experiences must not be copied from existing sandbox games but can be inspired from. You can add your assets or add ones that you have downloaded or bought from The Sandbox asset marketplace. Each game must have features inspired by The Smurf’s Universe containing at least 25 different assets. The minimum time duration of a single game must be 5 minutes. The deadline to submit your entry is July 3, 2022, at 11:59 PM UTC and the results will be declared on July 30, 2022.

How to submit an entry?

Participants must submit the games from the Game Maker Gallery option using the game title “SMURFS GJ – Game Title” and add a short description. After the submission, you must submit your game through this google form too in order for your entry to be valid.

What are the judging criteria and rewards?

A total of 50,000 SAND tokens will be divided among the winners as follows:

  • 1st place: 20,000 $SAND.
  • 2nd place: 15,000 $SAND.
  • 3rd place: 8,000 $SAND.
  • 4th to 10th place: 1,000 $SAND each.

Entries will be judged out of 100 points based on overall idea (25 points), game design (25 points), creativity (25 points), playability (25 points), and bonus points/wow factor(extra 25 points)

About The Sandbox and The Smurfs partnership

Animoca Brands announced the partnership of The Sandbox, a leading decentralization gaming organization, and IMPS, the official licensor of The Smurfs. The partnership aims to bring the blue Smurf characters and Smurf village to The Sandbox metaverse.
