The Sandbox Adds SAND Token Staking on Polygon

Stake SAND tokens

If you hold SAND tokens, you can now stake your tokens directly on the Polygon network to earns more tokens! This marks another step towards the full migration of The Sandbox to the Polygon network.

The move from Ethereum to the Polygon network already started last summer with the migration of all of the game’s NFT assets to the layer 2 solution. Moving to the polygon network means faster and cheaper transactions for players, and a more eco-friendly backbone for the project.

In December, $SAND token holders were able to provide liquidity pairs (ETH/SAND and MATIC/SAND) to earn rewards in $SAND. With this new update, holders can now single-stake their SAND tokens to receive rewards. This removes the risk or impermanent loss that can happen if the prices of the tokens provided fluctuate a lot.

In order to particpate, you will need to hold $SAND tokens on the Polygon blockchain. If your tokens are on the Ethereum chain, The Sandbox, in partnership with Polygon Bridge, offers a bridge functionality to migrate your tokens.

Bridge from Ethereum to Polygon

The first 4 weeks will bring the more rewards as 500,000 mSAND tokens will be distributed each week between the participants. To make things even better, the transactions will be gas-less. Thanks to a partnership with Biconomy, every user will benefit from 10 free transactions.

To start staking your $SAND tokens, head over to www.sandbox.game/en/me/defi/. If you need to bridge your tokens from the Ethereum network, got to your profile page and open the Bridge widget. More informations about $SAND staking can be found on this Medium article.

What is The Sandbox?

The Sandbox is a blockchain-powered metaverse currently in development. Sandbox consists of thousands of voxel-based lands. It has some similarities to Minecraft in appearance. However, players are able modify their plots with design tools, decorated them with voxel NFTs, and add programmed experiences! These virtual lands can become mini-games, adventures, virtual shops, a space for social gatherings, and so on.

The Sandbox provides free tools for developers, gamers and content creators. Creators use VoxEdit to make objects. In addition, the Game Maker allows users to build interactive experiences on their lands. Currently in an alpha testing phase through December 20th, Sandbox already boasts a number of quality games and adventures.

Sandbox has built incredible hype and visibility around their metaverse project, attracting notables such as Atari, The Walking Dead, and Snoop Dogg! Lands that once cost $50 are now worth several thousand!
