Warner Music Enters The Sandbox to Create a Music-Themed World

Warner Music The Sandbox

We already had artists such as Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki or Deadmau5 taking part in The Sandbox Metaverse. By partnering with one of the biggest music companies, The Sandbox is taking another step at becoming the metaverse of reference for brands and artists.

With this partneship, Warner Music Group makes its first steps into the metaverse. The goal of this partnership is to create a music-themed world to host social music events.

WMG will have its own land on which they will build a musical theme park and a virtual concert venue. With this partnership we can soon expect to see avatars of Warner’s artists enter the metaverse. Imagine artists like Ed Sheeran, Madonna, Jason Derulo, Rita Ora or Wiz Khalifa giving exclusive virtual shows…

“As a former entertainment executive, I’m very excited to have one of the biggest music companies in the world with some of the most talented artists joining The Sandbox to create talent-oriented experiences,”

Bertrand Levy, VP Global Partnerships of The Sandbox.

Virtual events and concerts will be the cornerstones of successful metaverse projects. And with all the recent partnerships announcements (Adidas, Atari, The Walking Dead, and many more), it seems like The Sandbox is leading the race to become the destination of choice for brands and artists willing to set foot in the metaverse realm.

“Our partnership with The Sandbox adds a new layer of possibility in the metaverse, with the ownership of virtual real estate. As a first-mover, Warner Music has secured the equivalent of beachfront property in the metaverse. On the LAND, we’ll develop persistent, immersive social music experiences that defy real-world limitations and allow our artists and their fans to engage like never before.”

Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development at Warner Music Group.

Upcoming Land Sale for Music Fans

To celebrate this new partnership, The Sandbox will soon reveal the details of an upcoming land sale around the Warner Music property.

This could become the place of reference for fans or upcoming artists to hang out, showcase their talent and create amazing experiences. By being the first mover in the space, Warner Music will be at the heart of this new musical neighborhood in the metaverse.

What is The Sandbox?

The Sandbox is one of the blockchain-powered virtual worlds currently in development. The Sandbox consists of customizable lands with voxel-based entities. Visually it will remind many gamers of Minecraft, as both games have this Lego-inspired look to them. However, players are able to buy virtual land and implement any form of monetization. These virtual lands can become mini-games, adventures, virtual shops, extensions of actual webshops, a space for social gatherings, and so on.

The Sandbox provides free tools for developers, gamers and content creators. Creators can use VoxEdit to create voxel-based objects for use in-game. And with the Game Maker users can make all sorts of interactive experiences! The Sandbox will also create a meta-gaming experience. Players can for example do daily quests or weekly quests for their guild. This will earn players SAND, which they can sell or use to buy in-game items or virtual land.
