Mythical Games has raised $150 million in a Series C investment round let by a16z, giving the gaming company unicorn status with a valuation of $1.25 billion. Aside from the investment group Andreessen Horowitz, crypto exchanges FTX and Binance also backed the game company.

The latest investment brings the total amount raised to more than $270 million. Which, if you care about that sort of thing, means that investors have acquired a total of 20% in the gaming company.

Mythical Games will use the investment to not only grow their flagship game Blankos Block Party, but furthermore develop tools for the Mythical Games ecosystem. They already have the Mythical Marketplace, but also want to create development tools. This would allow third-party game studios to integrate playable NFT-powered economies into their games.

This week Mythical Games already announced that Creative Mobile, CCG Lab and Abstraction Games will use their tools. You might know Abstraction Games as the Dutch game studio behind various ports of popular games, while also doing lots of work as a third-party. They worked on games like Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Surviving Mars, Baldur’s Gate 3, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Stranded Deep.

What is Blankos Block Party?

Blankos Block Party is an open-world multiplayer game styled like a giant block party. The game has a focus on building, exploration and curating your collection of unique and rare Blankos. The game is coming to PC, but will very likely also make an appearance on console systems. Blankos Block Party is using the blockchain technology from EOSIO, similar to EOS and WAX.

Blankos Block Party is a party game in which users can enjoy curated and user generated content. This can range from races to shooting challenges, from platforming to other crazy stuff. Users can build creations on the fly using assets available to them, while venturing into new adventures with their personally owned Blankos characters. Blankos Block Party focuses on user generated content, and it introduces a frictionless NFT Marketplace.

Blankos uses the so-called dGoods format for its NFTs. The team at Mythical has build their dGoods system in such a way that NFTs can move across different chains. Because this way they want to make sure that the technology doesn’t limit the liquidity for players. Players can win new NFTs every month, thanks to the Party Pass.
