The turn-based strategy game Hexarchia has released the first version of its whitepaper, and detailed how Warlords and Equipment NFTs will have an effect on the gameplay. In addition the developers announced an NFT presale, which will begin on October 20th.

In Hexarchia, 2 to 6 players battle for supremacy in 1v1, team matches, and a 6 player free-for-all. This hex-based game features players fielding a team consisting of a Warlord plus a selection of troops. Each team enters the battlefield and attempts to destroy the opposing player’s Warlord. After building hype for several months with weekly streams and NFT giveaways, Hexarchia finally released its whitepaper, providing us with more details about the upcoming NFT sale and how these NFTs affect gameplay.

Warlords gameplay

Warlords are the key piece to Hexarchia. You can’t play-to -arn without one, even though there will be a free-to-play version. Nonetheless, Warlords are important for the play-to-earn gameplay mechanics of Hexarchia. Much like a king in chess, if your Warlord falls during a gameplay battle in Hexarchia, the game is over. However, unlike chess kings, Warlord wield considerable power.

Warlords are tradeable NFTs minted on Polygon. There are six different Warlords, each with their own properties and traits. Traits come in a variety of levels, allowing Warlords to differentiate based on their specific traits. There are six traits in total, Civilization, Intellect, Physical, Positive Aptitude, Negative Aptitude, and Skill. Traits provide bonuses and may also spawn mini-quests to allow your Warlords to earn more experience during a match.

That’s right, Warlords level up. There is no hard cap to levels, but the system is designed in such a way that training higher than level 100 will be extremely difficult. As they level up, Warlords acquire titles at level 50 (Blessed) and 100 (Demigod). Note: The Warlord leveling system will not be active during the closed alpha.

Equipment and their powers

Though Warlords are powerful on their own, what you really want to do is give them some equipment. Also tradeable NFTs, Equipment can be purchased, won, or found in-game. The first set of Equipment, titled the Genesis Set, features 1000 items in three rarities, Classic, Epic, and Legendary. Most of these have already been given away through various contests and such. The next set, Exodus, will consist of 2400 NFTs. More details on that in November.

So you have items, you equip your Warlords, they get stronger. But it’s doesn’t stop there. Hexarchia features what they call an Ascension system for Equipment. Basically, it’s a fusing system. Each equipment NFT begins at Origin level. Merging two Origins burns both and creates a Master level NFT. Merge two Masters for a Supreme NFT.

Each level offers additional customization options. Master level items can be personalized by changing colors and textures to make the item look just the way you want. At Supreme level, Equipment can be imbued with cool-sounding special effects such as fire blast and caustic venom!

Premium Access and Warlords Presale

Through October 19th, players can purchase premium access for only 1 MATIC. This acts as a whitelist pass for the presale, grants the owner a Lord/Lady title, and also provides access to the closed alpha. Once the presale begins, the cost for Premium Passes goes up to 10 MATIC.

This initial pre-sale is for Warlord characters and features 1536 Awakening NFTs. Each Awakening NFT can be used to summon a random Warlord. The presale begins on October 20th, 00:01 PST (UTC -7) and ends on October 24th, 11:59 PST. Once the presale is completed, the Public Sale will automatically start. An additional 4608 Warlords will be available for the Public Sale.

Players can purchase single Awakening NFTs or in bundles of 3, 6, and 12, each with a slight discount. Presale NFTs will also be about 20% cheaper than those purchased during the Public Sale.

All sales occur on the official Hexarchia website.

Hexarchia Olympics

To kick the game off with a bang, Hexarchia announced the Hexarchia Olympics, a tournament that begins on November 5th. Open to Premium Members with access to the Close Alpha, the Olympics offer daily prizes for the top ten players with the most in-game points. First place receives a Legendary Genesis NFT, second through 4th an Epic, and fifth through tenth Classic. Classic Genesis NFTs are already priced at a $150+ on the third party markets, so this is a genuine play-to-earn opportunity for anyone who can place of the leaderboards!
