Animoca Brands is working with Blowfish Studios to launch an NFT-powered action RPG in space called Phantom Galaxies. According to the exclusive report by VentureBeat the game will launch next year on PC and major consoles, and it will use NFTs to add content of allow some customization.
Phantom Galaxies is all about mechas, as players need to protect human colonies in space. Players pick a ranger and a Mechanized Starfighter to battle against the Sha’Har, a mysterious and hostile civilization. The mechs can find on land, transform, and then battle in the sky as well. Players can customize their mechs and spaceships, and it looks like all mechs, ships, avatars and equipment will be NFTs.
Players will go out on missions, solve puzzles, and gather resources for crafting. The social element of the game lays of course in the formation of guilds, but these are known as corporations in Phantom Galaxies.
Animoca acquired Blowfish Studios a couple of months ago for $35 million, meaning that the effectively also acquired the game that was already in production. With Phantom Galaxies, The Sandbox, a variety of licensed products, they want to attract a mainstream audience and introduce them to NFTs and play-to-earn gaming.
You should go to https://phantomgalaxies.com/ and sign up, because they will hand out free NFTs. Phantom Galaxies will see its first NFT collectibles drop later this year together with the first game utility NFTs. Early 2022 there will be the Starfighter NFT drops and the generative avatars, followed by an Early Access game launch in Spring 2022.
What is Phantom Galaxies?
Phantom Galaxies combines open-world space sim with fast-paced mech shooter and a captivating story. It’s an action role playing game featuring robots, set in space. So far so good. The game gives players ownership over in-game items, ranging from resources to weapons and from avatars to mechs.
Once enemies, the factions of Neoterra now share a dangerous alien foe, the Sha’Kari. The Sha’Kari Zealots are the priest cast of the Sha’Har race, intent on destroying mankind for desecrating their ancestral planets. Players need to pick a mech, each offering a different playing style: Lancer, Buster, Assault, and Breacher classes. Then they will need to take the fight to the Sha’Kari.
Phantom Galaxies will offer different quests, social elements, guilds, and a lot more. The game will release in 2022 on PC and consoles.
