FC Barcelona and La Liga Join Sorare Fantasy Football

La Liga Sorare fantasy football NFTs

Sorare has signed an agreement with La Liga adding all 20 clubs, including FC Barcelona, to the fantasy football game. Player cards are available on the marketplace with immediate effect, and the cards will be auctioned in 30 minute phases spread out over the rest of this Thursday.

Sorare already offered cards for Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Real Madrid. However, by signing an agreement with the La Liga organization all clubs join the game for the 2021-2022 season. This means that FC Barcelona, without Lionel Messi, will make its long awaited debut in Sorare. Maybe Ansu Fati, the new number 10 of the club, will become a success on Sorare.

Ultimately, Sorare’s attraction is twofold. On the one hand you want to have the superstars, purely as a collectible. However, from a gameplay point of view you’d want the cards of players that do important work for their team. For example players with a high pass completion, or strikers that score lots of goals, and defenders that make lots of tackles.

It’s important to note that the partnership between La Liga and Sorare is seemingly for multiple years. In the press release they say: “Through Sorare cards, SO5, pitch-side ads, tickets for fans, and by offering unique football experiences that money can’t buy, LaLiga and Sorare are opening the world of NFTs to millions of fans for years to come”.

More stuff coming

Starting from next week Sorare will sell limited starter pack bundles consisting of a goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, attacker and an extra player, all from the same club. In addition Sorare will celebrate its 200th game week this weekend. The 200 best players of the Special Weekly competition of that round will a El Clasico NFT card, and those who own that NFT will get a trip (details to follow) to a match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

How to play Sorare

You can play Sorare for free, but that takes away lots of the excitement to be fair. You need to purchase collectible player cards, and the players on these cards will become your team. Each game week you select the players, each represented by an NFT card, of which you think they will perform best.

For every game week managers will need to select a team from the player card collection. They will need one goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder, one attacker and an extra field player. Players earn points based on the real-life performance of those players. Therefore players that play regularly, are active in winning team, hardly make mistakes, and score a lot of goals, are generally valuable. Each card can only be used once during a game week, but if you have enough cards you can join in multiple leagues.

If you make enough points, you will earn 0.01 or 0.02 ETH. Are you among the best? Then you will receive a free card, which are much more valuable. Learn more on how to play and earn in Sorare here, or sign up for the game here.
