Following up on their extremely successful first round of land sales with The Walking Dead land sales, the Sandbox continued with a second sale today. They completely sold out in 30 seconds, Sandbox land sales prove once again to be a highly contested event!
The Sandbox has seen a land sale go fast more often, and this one featuring The Walking Dead was no difference. It was the second out of four waves, and this one had 502 land parcels for sale with also 95 premium lands.
Along with the premium land plots, users who purchased today also received special The Walking Dead-themed NFTs. Walkers, survivors, Glenn, and even a church were up for grabs! Since these are NFTs, owners can sell them on the official The Sandbox marketplace or on secondary markets. So even if you missed out on picking up your favorite character, you still might be able to find one for sale.
For the big spenders, estates of all sizes are still up for auction on OpenSea and will be through 1pm UTC, September 3rd. Estate sizes range from small (3×3 plots) to large (12×12). All bids must be offered in SAND.
For everyone else, two more Walking Dead partnered land sales are scheduled for this month. Each sale includes special Rare, Epic, and Legendary NFTs that are unique for each wave. We’ve seen Rick Grimes available in the first wave, and Glenn in the second. So expect to see more of your favorite characters bundled with land plots. You’ll need to be quick with selecting and approving your purchase, though. The demand for plots in The Sandbox shows no signs of slowing down!
What is The Sandbox?
The Sandbox is one of the blockchain-powered virtual worlds currently in development. The virtual world of The Sandbox consists out of lands, and voxels fill up each of those lands. Visually it will remind many gamers of Minecraft, as both games have this Lego-inspired look to them. However, players are able to buy virtual land and implement any form of monetization. These virtual lands can become mini-games, adventures, virtual shops, extensions of actual webshops, a space for social gatherings, and so on.
The Sandbox is providing free tools for developers, gamers and content creators. Creators can use VoxEdit to make objects. In addition the Game Maker allows users to create interactivity on their virtual land. The Sandbox will also create a meta gaming experience. Players can for example do daily quests or weekly quests for their guild. This will earn players SAND, which they can sell or use to buy in-game items or virtual land.
