Farsite, the upcoming space MMO, promises a new navigation system for their game with an interactive star map, which they will release on August 18th. Having already released and sold out of their 1,000 first edition crates, Farsite is moving into Phase 3 of its development roadmap and building out the pieces needed for their epic game of exploration and development.

Farsite promises a post-apocalyptic MMO space game where ships, blueprints, and components will all be NFTs which can be sold and traded on the markets. The exclusive first edition crates sold out in under four hours. Players can still buy Triton and Phobos crates in-game with Credits. Unopened crates and items can also be purchased on OpenSea.

For now, there is no game to speak of. Players can view everyone’s ships in the hangar. The ships come in a wide variety of eye catching designs and colors. You can browse through all of them and share your favorites to social media.

What we know so far

No details were revealed about the star map for Farsite, but we do know that players will be starting in one constellation called Homestead. Presumably the map will show the various stars and planets in this constellation as well as their inter-system links. The game boasts planetary sectors which can be managed to produce resources, starbases which serve as activity hubs, and asteroids to be harvested by intrepid miners.

In-game operations and trades happen on the Polygon network and are gas-free for the players. In-game exchanges will be done with Credits, the official Farside currency. Ship hulls are backed with Credits, in a feature Farside calls cNFT. This gives the backed items a base value which can be used as loan collateral, or cashed in if the owner decides to burn the item. Items and credits can also be transferred to external wallets for trading and sales outside of the game.

With an early alpha slated to land in Q4 2021, Farsite is a game for interested space explorers to keep an eye on.

What is Farsite?

Farsite is a blockchain-powered MMO game with elements of real-time strategy. The game’s economy uses aspects of decentralized finance on the Ethereum 2.0 blockchain. Players can take on all kinds of roles to be part of a bigger intergalactic economy. Every item in the game is made by players, using resources that have also been acquired by players.

Players could be a hauler, a complete contracts by moving goods between space stations. They could also be a miner, gathering resources, or a manufacturer who creates tools and items. The universe of Farsite also offers space for governance over stars, mercenaries, pirates, politicians and of course traders.

To produce something, you’d need a blueprint, components, a base on a planet and Credits to pay for services. The blueprints you can buy, borrow, or find, while components are made from resources found on planets. All items in the game are owned by players. Establish a base on a Planet in a hunt for rare materials to craft powerful Ships and Modules, trade on the open market, fight for loot and honor to govern the entire Constellation!
