The first public viewing of the much anticipated Mirandus happens today, July 3rd, at 12 PST, in an official stress test on the Mirandus test server. Gala Games also announced a new Mirandus building, the Grand Sanctuary. Auctions for the Grand Sanctuary start on July 12th.

Mirandus is a blockchain-based fantasy MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) in development by Gala Games. At the core of the game is the concept of true player ownership. Players and contributors own every item in the game, including weapons, tents, shops, and even entire cities. Player decisions will have an affect on the game and their actions will create an environment that was built by the players themselves. Economies, governance, and political alliances will all be created by the players. Though the game is still in the early stages of development, players can purchase limited edition buildings and characters to use in the game. The game also offers free-to-play options.

Though this stress test runs on a very rudimentary version of the game, players can run, jump and view and interact with a limited environment. Breaking the game is the purpose of this event. Gala Games wants to fill the server with players and see what parts of their code begin to show problems. Stress tests are an important part of any software development. It’s great to see the Mirandus team taking on this testing at this early stage.

If you want to join in, you must download the the alpha version. This stress test is only accessible to Gala Gold members. Gamers can buy Gala Gold memberships for $10 on their website.

Grand Sanctuary announced

In addition to the Public Stress Test, Gala Games announced a new building for Mirandus called the Grand Sanctuary. Created in collaboration with Opera, there will be a total of eight Grand Sanctuaries. Auctions begin on July 12th at OpenSea and proceeds benefit charity.

Grand Sanctuaries function as new player starting points and general centers of activity. New players can find starting equipment and information about the world in the safety of the Sanctuaries. Some small percentage of the earnings that these new players receive, will go to the Sanctuary Owner and a real-world charity, chosen by Gala Games and Opera. While the Sanctuaries offer help to those players who don’t have much to work with, a portion of the proceeds flow back out of the game to help people in need! By building this charity donation into the game mechanics, Gala Games shows that they are taking gaming in new, bold directions.

While players with pre-bought NFTs may have an easier time getting started, Sanctuaries provide a helping hand for free to play players. Offering more opportunities for a wide variety of player types is a win for the longevity of the game.

Gala Games expanding

Gala Games continues to expand its footprint in the wider blockchain gaming ecosystem. While Town Star is the only game in their stable that’s live, they’ve got many more in development. Some of those are made in-house, others through third party developers. Their upcoming releases include Mirandus, an MMORPG, Fortified, a Tower Defense game, and Echoes of Empire, a 4x space strategy game.

The Gala Games ecosystem grows as well. Initially built on Ethereum, they have made partnerships with Binance Smart Chain, Polygon and Flare Network to create a multi-chain environment. Above all, they are building their own distributed node network that will serve them in the years to come. Anyone can purchase Gala nodes and contribute to running their gaming ecosystem, while receiving GALA tokens and game NFTs.

Gala Games’ own GALA token rests at the center of their ecosystem. Their website offers opportunities to purchase the token. But gamers can also earn GALA by competing in weekly competitions for the free-to-play farming game, Town Star. Registering is free, playing is free, and every week players earn GALA tokens. You can use these tokens to purchase NFTs from any of Gala’s games.
