The fantasy football game Sorare has introduced the French national team in their game, making France the first licensed national team. Several cards have already been sold through auctions, and Sorare says it won’t stop here. The fantasy football game has plans to launch more national teams during Euro 2020, which takes place right now.
Sorare announced support for national team matches earlier this year. As a result player cards from club players can also be used during the international tournament. However, obviously not every player in a national team plays for a club represented in Sorare. As a result it’s quite a challenge to have a proper squad of national team players in Sorare. The inclusion of licensed national teams will change that.
The first deal has been made with the French Football Federation, and more will follow. Considering Sorare already has deals with the national competitions of Belgium and The Netherlands, these are likely to follow. In a similar fashion we could expect deals with Team USA, South Korea and Japan. However, these three are obviously not part of the Euro 2021 tournament. Right now the Copa America is also taking place, so adding Latin American national teams would also be an option.
