Animoca Brands has signed a deal with game studio Lucid Sight that gives that an exclusive and global license to publish and further develop Crypto Space Commander, better known as CSC. This deal basically means that Animoca Brands is taking over.
In the world of blockchain games, CSC is a dinosaur. This space MMO has been around for quite some time. The game comes with fast-paced combat and a player-driven economy, including a crafting system. While flying their spaceships, players can acquire resources, battle other players, discover new star systems, and craft items. Players can form guilds, insure their ships, or lose everything when they get destroyed. Yup, it’s pretty hardcore.
Crypto Space Commander uses the Ethereum blockchain, which obviously hasn’t been a nice experience in recent months. However, the game does boost a play-to-earn economy. In the past they have done some sales events, with Star Trek branded spaceships. However, the game has experienced some harsh criticism, as players slammed it for being pay-to-win.
Thankfully Animoca has experience in rebuilding existing games into proper play-to-earn games. They are currently doing this with their mobile game Crazy Defense Heroes. It will be interesting to see what will happen to Crypto Space Commander.
What is Crypto Space Commander?
CSC is an open-universe, sandbox-style space MMO with a player-owned economy. Command starships and earn digital items to buy, sell, or trade without limits both inside and outside of the game universe. CSC gives players a free-market economy that provides true ownership & freedom. Resources acquired can be sold for the in-game currency GFC. Ultimately GFC can be exchanged for ETH, thus giving this game a play-to-earn mechanic.
As a Commander in the Galactic Federation Fleet, you will undertake missions, discover resources, and acquire skills in your quest to dominate the galactic frontier. Explore the vast expanse but be warned, the further you travel from home the greater the danger.
