The next game coming to the Gala Games ecosystem is a 4X strategy game called Echoes of Empire. Players can build, upgrade and own a fleet of spaceships to control a sector in the galaxy. Game studio Ion Games develops the game for PC and Mac.

Gala Games has teased a space game for some while now, as they referred to it as Project X. Graphically Echoes of Empire is an departure from the colorful worlds of Town Star, Mirandus and Fortified. Whether Echoes of Empire gets added to the Gala Games ecosystem, is still dependent on a community vote. However, considering that every game in the ecosystem adds value, it’s unlikely that the vote won’t pass.

In Echoes of Empire players need to build, upgrade and own a fleet of spaceships. Using these ships, they need to control their own sector in the galaxy. Players can do this solo, but it’s probably better to team up in massive guilds. The quest for power and economic control in the galaxy will result in wars between guilds, as they battle for resources. Guilds need these resources to upgrade warships, craft new weapons and repair their fleet.

Similar to other games in the Gala ecosystem, player ownership over in-game assets is a central mechanic. Players can own spaceships, resources and entire sectors in the galaxy. Whether you conquer the galaxy through war or through diplomacy, that’s all up to you. Some of these NFTs can be earned through gameplay, but it’s very likely that Gala Games will sell NFTs for GALA tokens in their store.

Technically Echoes of Empire is an 4X Strategy game. That 4X part stands for Explore, Expand, Exploit, and Exterminate. Modern games that fits this niche of the strategy game genre, are for example Solaris, Endless Space 2, Stellaris, Civilization VI, Galactic Civilization III, or classics like Alpha Centauri.

Gala Games expanding

Gala Games is expanding its footprint in the wider blockchain gaming ecosystem. While Town Star is the only game in their stable that’s live, they’ve got many more in development. Some of those are made in-house, others through third party developers. This way Gala Games is growing as a publisher, developer and a blockchain gaming ecosystem.

The Gala Games ecosystem is interesting. They rely on Ethereum now, and have made partnerships with Binance Smart Chain, Polygon and Flare Network to create a multi-chain environment. Above all they are building their own node network that will serve them in the years to come. The Gala Games node network is ultimately meant to store data, compute and confirm transactions. Similar to for example Flow, it will use a range of different types of nodes, each with a different purpose.

At the center of the current ecosystem, is Gala Games’ own GALA token. Gamers can earn this token by competing in weekly competitions for the free-to-play farming game Town Star. Registering is free, playing is free, and every week players can earn GALA tokens. These tokens can’t be used inside game worlds, but players can use them to obtain NFTs. As a matter of fact, they have $250,000 in prize money every week in the month of May, so it’s worth checking out!
