Gamers Can Still Claim Their 2018 Chainmonsters

Gamers who’ve been playing early version of Chainmonsters three years ago on the Ethereum blockchain, can now claim the same Gen-0 chainmons on the Flow blockchain. B-side Games announced this on their Twitter account. However, they warn that the process isn’t that easy, as the rules are ‘specific’.

If you played the Chainmonsters demo back in the days, you might have some chainmons to claim. There are three requirements that determine eligibility. If you want to read this guide on the official website, then that’s also an option of course.

  • The chainmon NFT must be in block number 8606493.
  • It should be in an Ethereum address, holding it in the block mentioned above.
  • The chainmon should have the “isTradeable” flag shown as ‘true’

Now what does that mean in detail? Follow the following steps:

  1. To find out whether your old chainmons are eligible, you need to check the old Ethereum contract, and then press ‘read contract‘.
  2. Then go to number 15 in the list ‘tokensofowner’ and enter your Ethereum wallet address there.
  3. You will see some data, and then ownerTokens uint256[] : XXX. That XXX is a number, an unique token ID for your chainmon. If you have multiple chainmons, multiple numbers will be shown.
  4. For each of those Token IDs you need to go to number 4, ‘isTradeable’, enter the ID, and hope that the query responds with ‘true’.
  5. All chainmons that respond with ‘true’ can be moved from Ethereum to Flow.

Now you will know which chainmons you can claim from the old 2018 version of Chainmonsters to the new version on the Flow blockchain.

How to transfer Chainmonsters from Ethereum to Flow

  1. Go to the MyCrypto Sign Message website
  2. Unlock and login to your Metamask, make sure you’re on the Ethereum blockchain
  3. On the Sign Message website, you need to fill in your Flow wallet address. ONLY your Flow address.
  4. Press ‘Sign Message’ and confirm your signature in Metamask
  5. The Sign Message page will generate a signature (a bunch of code)
  6. Copy ALL THE CODE (CTRL + A, followed by CTRL + C)
  7. Fill in this form, paste the signature, submit, and B-Side Games will do the rest.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. However, players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or regions: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

On top of that there are traits. Each monster has up to two traits. Most of them start with one and will learn a second one as they level up. For example, arcane intellect increase the critical hit chance, while haste increases the speed gain on a level-up. There are also traits that increase the attack power, while others decrease certain stats.

Battles in Chainmonsters are turn-based. While classic monster-catching games offer one-versus-one battles, Chainmonsters gives us 2 vs 2. This allows players to chain and combine attacks, creating strong elemental reactions.

Directly on launch, the game will introduce a season pass with timed events and event exclusive content. The game is running on the Flow blockchain, which allows easy on-boarding for users not familiar with blockchain technology.

Players won’t even notice there’s blockchain technology involved. However, once they dive deeper into the game they will be able to claim their wallet and everything they’ve collected. Gamers can keep, sell or trade all their items on an open peer-to-peer marketplace, like for example Viv3 or the Chainmonsters marketplace.
