Somnium Space now allows owners of a waterfront parcel to build upon their water property, adding more space to their building plots. Landowners can now build on water, which could result in for example a dock for boats. In the near future Somnium Space will also introduce vehicles, teleportation and transportation updates.

Somnium Space founder Artur Sychov posted on Discord about the latest update. The team is clearly working on making the world more presentable by creating a better drawing distance, optimized visuals for water, and movement updates. Now visitors will walk a bit slower on grass and faster on the road.

What is Somnium Space?
Somnium Space is a virtual world in which landowners can build whatever they want to. The program registers landownership on the Ethereum blockchain by using NFTs. In addition all players can visit these creations and interact with each other. The developers have created Somnium Space with VR headsets in mind, even though players can also access to world through their desktop, laptop, or mobile devices.
Value of land in Somnium Space has been increasing incredibly over the year. We can also see this increased demand for virtual land in other virtual worlds and even in blockchain-powered video games. Once in a while Somnium Space sells new land parcels, either for ETH or their in-world currency CUBES.
The cheapest lands in Somnium Space cost more than $5,600 or 2.7ETH, while three months ago the minimum price was $1,000 or 1.1 ETH. This will get you a small land parcel of 200m2. However, the cheapest XL parcel on the waterfront will cost you 16.95 ETH or more than $35,000.
