Sky Mavis, the game company behind blockchain hit game Axie Infinity, will introduce an investment platform to fund and distribute promising blockchain games. To achieve this, they will integrate their Ronin sidechain into their game platform Mavis Hub. The initiative was announced together with the launch of their new website.

Mavis Hub exists on PCs as a launcher for Axie Infinity. In this case Axie Infinity: Battlegrounds would be the competitive battle mode, while Project K (it doesn’t have a real name yet) would be the land gameplay. Sky Mavis sees their Axie Infinity project as an inspiration for a new generation of game developers.

“Games with real, player-owned economies will become places where we live, work, and play – true digital nations”

Axie Infinity moved away from Ethereum due to incredible high gas fees. Instead the game is now running on Ronin, their in-house created layer-2 blockchain solution. The Sky Mavis blockchain solution supports their own games, a marketplace, a wallet and soon a hub for new promising blockchain games.

Whether these games will be created within the Axie Infinity universe, or completely separate, that’s up for grabs. Last month the developers already highlighted the idea that developers can created their own games on Axie Infinity land parcels, aside from the in-house developed war game.

“This war game can be seen as one game built on top of land with many more to come in the future— some built by Sky Mavis, the Axie core team, and others built by users or other developers”, the developers said.

What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is a tactical battle game in which two players fight each other using a team of Axies. These little balls of joy are from Lunacia, and they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Their characteristics influence which moves they are capable of performing. They can be damage dealers, healers, or bad ass tanks.

It is the battle system that makes Axie Infinity stand out. Axies will take turn to fight in a 3v3 battle. The Axies fight to win the victory. At the same time players need to be a real strategists. They for example need to wisely choose appropriate Axies for their team, placing them at the tactical positions.

Axie Infinity has a strong play-to-earn system. Gamers earn Small Love Potions (SLP) by winning matches. These can be used inside the game’s economy or sold to other players who are in need of some more. Soon they will introduce land gameplay, their AXS governance token and a lot more. Axie Infinity is becoming more than just a battle game.

Sky Mavis recently moved their game over to Ronin. Ronin is a custom sidechain tailored to the needs to Axie Infinity and its community. The game makes sure that breeding Axies, claiming Small Love Potions and trading items can happen without the extreme gas fees on the Ethereum blockchain.
