Steve Aoki NFT Art Drop Made $4.29 Million

Steve Aoki Hairy Antoni Tudisco

Word famous DJ Steve Aoki made $4.29 million from his first ever NFT art drop through Nifty Gateway. The most eye-popping sale was $888.888 for an unique art piece that came with a physical copy. In addition the DJ sold two time-limited open editions and a bunch of $2000 mystery boxes.

The artworks weren’t entirely Steve Aoki’s creation though. Aoki took care of the music, but the visual were done by Antoni Tudisco. Nonetheless it’s safe to assume that Aoki will be back for more NFT drops on Nifty Gateway or other marketplaces.

Aoki isn’t the only DJ dipping their toes in the world of non-fungible tokens. 3LAU has been very active recently, while the same can be said about Deadmau5. At the same time we’ve seen Carl Cox and Kings of Leon enter this new market as well.

In general there’s a new trend in the NFT space, where music is playing an important role. First these digital artwork were all about animations, but now music is becoming the new layer. In some cases even the biggest creative push of an NFT, like with Euler Beats. In the case of Steve Aoki we’re talking about NFT art that combines music and visuals.

Music NFTs on the rise

As mainstream media and celebrities pay more attention to the blockchain market and NFTs, we are finally seeing developments in the audio space. Music NFTs are slowly becoming a real thing. NFT pioneers like ConnieDigital have been combining various art forms in their NFTs, including music.

Last month Euler Beats made a major splash into the blockchain community, introducing on-chain generated music and art into one single NFT. At the same time Gala Games is planning to let their community create and sell in-game music for the upcoming online game Mirandus.
