Blockchain esports platform Community Gaming has partnered with Polyient Games to launch a tournament series with $100.000 in prizes. Event rewards will be in USD and PGU, starting with the online shooter Valorant on March 29th. The tournament will cover multiple traditional and blockchain gaming over a period of time.
All this will start with a $20,000 three-part Valorant tournament series, of which $5000 will be part of the first round. The remaining $80.000 will go to other tournaments, but details haven’t been revealed yet. The objective is the bring blockchain gaming to a mainstream audience.
“The marriage between decentralized technology and gaming will be one of the most significant themes of the coming decade,” said Craig Russo, Polyient Games co-founder. “Our work with Community Gaming on this brand new decentralized tournament series serves as a major step towards bringing mainstream adoption to this new industry.”
Polyient Games is a blockchain gaming and NFT platform. They’ve also invested in several other projects, like for example Mirandus. While Community Gaming is a blockchain-powered tournament system that takes care of automatic payouts for esports tournaments.
We covered Community Gaming before. Recently they hosted an Axie Infinity tournament together with the Axie community, while they also did tournaments for team-based games like League of Legends.
How does this work?
Every player and or team will need to register themselves for a tournament, while also providing an Ethereum wallet address. After each match, both teams or players need to communicate the final score. They can provide proof, like for example a screenshot. As competitors advance through the brackets, ultimately it will be clear who’s the winner.
That’s where the Autopay Technology from Community Gaming kicks in. As soon as all results are confirmed by the players and/or tournament organizers, the prize pool will be split among all winners. In the case of League of Legends the system will instantly payout the prize money to forty players.
