Cometh Gives More Insight in Play-to-Earn Revenue

In Cometh users fly their spaceships around to farm tokens, and now they’ve revealed the revenue from their play-to-earn DeFi mechanics. The Cometh leaderboards show how much yield a wallet made, and which spaceships are farming the most.

At the moment the rewards only show the earnings from MATIC tokens, but Cometh will add more rewards soon. The top user made more than $7500 since launch earlier this month, with a yield of 367%. However, the biggest yield percentage in the top 100 list reached 2463% since launch. Other users in the top 100 only have have a 44% yield. This strongly suggests that skills are part of the game.

Looking at the different spaceships, the rarer ones obviously perform best. The Sunriser, which sold for 54 thousand dollar earlier this month, has the most earnings, reaching a yield of 384% and $1767 in earnings. Even the number 100 in the leaderboard made $135 since launch.

More spaceships entering

This week Cometh also introduced a couple of new space ships. In celebration of Chinese New Year they’ve released 296 spaceship bundles, each containing three random spaceships. These are still available for 1.68 ETH each.

In addition they’ve announced a partnership with Aavegotchi. Currently both projects utilize the Polygon in order to move away from Ethereum gas fees. Special Cometh x Aavegotchi spaceships are available on Opensea. The Fren ships cost approximately 0.275 ETH, while an auction for an unique GHST ship is now at 4.2 ETH.

What is Cometh?

Cometh is a space game, but above all it’s gamified DeFi product. They describe themselves as a ‘DeFi powered game with yield generating NFT’. Active players can mine MUST tokens using their spaceships, and a share of all NFT sales gets distributed as asteroids back into the game. That way Cometh really is a mix from a game and a DeFi product.

No matter whether you look at Cometh from an investment or gaming perspective, the promise is quite cool. You control a spaceship, and you need to position it to mine tokens. Navigating the galaxy can be done by ‘linking up’ with other spaceships. When other players use your spaceship, you earn MUST. The good thing about the game is that it runs entirely on a layer2 solution. So there won’t be any crazy gas fees.
