Landowners in Decentraland can now acquire an NFT that deploys an crypto exchange service in the virtual world. Through the Metazone marketplace users can setup their own token swap ATM. Acquiring the panel costs 2000 MANA, which translates to 492 dollars.
Metazone describes the DCL Token Swap NFT as a first glimpse of DeFi inside Decentraland. Landowners can set a fee for all swaps on their platform, while also having the ability to for example whitelist certain wallet addresses.
Obviously landowners can also set the name for their exchange service. The exchange taps into data from Coingecko and aggregator functionalities from 1inch. In total there are 50 NFTs available, and still 47 available.
Inside Decentraland players often need to use MANA tokens to pay for activities or virtual clothing. Having an easy way to obtain these tokens, without leaving the virtual world, could be a very useful service.
What is Decentraland?
Decentraland is a virtual world build on the Ethereum blockchain. Consumers can buy land within this world, and build anything. Currently ownership over virtual land is highly speculative, and the value of these lands increased significantly over the past year. Decentraland launched in February 2020, and players can now visit by using a web browser on a desktop or laptop. The game celebrated its first year anniversary last week.
Within Decentraland people can build all kinds of businesses, including shops for in-game items, art galleries and games. Decentral Games and Metazone are some of the companies that create games within Decentraland. For example, Metazone is selling complete game installations. Landowners can earn money from those creations, while game creators earn a share of the revenue.
Earlier this month game company Atari opened their virtual venue. In addition they launched a game jam. Ten finalists share 20 thousand dollars worth of MANA, ATARI tokens and land parcels. The grand prize is $5000 and a land parcel.
