Doctor Who Card Game Stops Selling Certain Packs

Gamers who want to acquire a Tardis pack filled with cards for the upcoming trading card game Doctor Who: Worlds Apart won’t find them in the shop anymore. In addition they will stop selling premium and exclusive packs next week as well. That’s what Reality Gaming announced through their newsletter.

These Doctor Who card packs aren’t necessarily about exclusive cards, but more about the frames they come in. Removing these packs means that Silurian, Bronze Dalek, Weeping Angel, Ice Warrior and Cyber-Warrior frames will no longer be available through the official store.

In the same newsletter the team hints at new things coming to Doctor Who: Worlds Apart later this year. So far the game has been announced, but it’s not available yet. They are selling card packs without anybody seeing proper Doctor Who gameplay. However, it’s a product licensed by the BBC and therefore it has lots of legitimacy.

Doctor Who: Worlds Apart will release somewhere in 2021. Players who own a founder’s token will have early access to test versions of the game.

What is Doctor Who: Worlds Apart?

Doctor Who: Worlds Apart is a trading card game made by the British game studio Reality Gaming Group and licensed by BBC Studios. The card game is based on the BBC television series, and features unique artwork from the early and modern days of Doctor Who.

Doctor Who is a science-fiction television series about a time lord called ‘The Doctor’. This person is extraterrestrial, but appears to be human. The Doctor travels through time and space using the Tardis, a time travel machine that looks like a blue Police Box, and has all kinds of adventures. The first episode aired in 1963, hence the price point for the Tardis Pack and the number of founder’s tokens.

Reality Gaming Group and the BBC will release Doctor Who: Worlds Apart as a free-to-play game. Players can buy cards based on the entire Doctor Who universe. They can then use their collection to build a deck and battle against other players in one-versus-one battles. They announced the game in August 2020.
