Mesut Özil Genies NFT Drop on Nifty Gateway Detailed

Avatar platform Genies and Turkish-German football star Mesut Özil are dropping their first NFT drop, made by BossLogic, in a few hours on Nifty Gateway. There will be three different drops: two silent auction NFTs with 200 and 100 mints, one auction of an unique drop, and two open editions that are available for just a few minutes.

While most sales on Nifty Gateway are purely about crypto art, this particular drop seems to be a bit more than that. Purchasing these NFTs will unlock digital wearables for a Genies avatar, which will open for the public in March.

What are Genies?

The announcement by Özil comes a bit as a surprise, just like Lindsay Lohan and Soulja Boy jumped into the crypto space recently. However, it’s not himself who’s doing the work. His digital representation made by Genies will be the one doing the heavy lifting.

It’s exactly one of the reasons why Genies makes sense. These virtual representations can take on jobs that don’t require the actual individual to do anything on location. Last year Justin Bieber already used his Genies avatar to announce the launch of his Christmas album on Amazon Music.

Genies exists one the edge between virtual and physical realities. This allows celebrities and other people to create a digital character that represents them online in the metaverse. Genies is using the Flow blockchain to give users ownership over avatars and digital fashion.
