French gaming studio B2Expand has released the first information about Light Trail Adventures, an exploration spin-off of their sci-fi racing game Light Trail Rush. They are building Light Trail Adventures in The Sandbox, and it will offer puzzles, collecting tasks and combat features.
The game is set in the same universe as Light Trail Rush. In this universe the rich have it all, and they invented the Light Trail races as a means of entertainment for the people. At the same time, the ordinary people need to work hard to make a living.
Light Trail Adventures takes place in one of these cities. You’re a new migrant into a city, looking for jobs and make a name for yourself. Players need defeat enemies, find the valuable resource ambrosium, and eventually discover the hidden vaults.
Many games coming to The Sandbox
Later this month The Sandbox will launch Season 0, a preview event during which 40 different games will unlock over time. The Sandbox is giving 1000 SAND (70~80 dollars) to the first thousand players who complete all the pre-season objectives. There are also smaller amounts of SAND to be earned while playing. In addition players can spend their earned tokens on in-game assets.
There are several game studios working on games in The Sandbox. Aside for B2Expand there’s Polygonal Mind, who are working on an RPG called Dethrone. At the same time Altitude Games, known for their work in Battle Racers, are working on Mushroom Mania. Some projects are very ambitious, using all kinds of land plots across the metaverse to build their gaming universe.
Next week The Sandbox will organize their first public sale. They will sell 1200 premium lands for their virtual world. Everybody who owns a piece of land, can deploy their own game. The Sandbox offers free software to make items and characters, called VoxEdit. In addition there’s the quite easy-to-use GameMaker software.
What is The Sandbox?
The Sandbox is one of the blockchain-powered virtual worlds currently in development. The beta test will launch later this year, but before that time there will be one more pre-sale. During this pre-sale gamers, businesses and investors can buy virtual land with a discount. You can register now to make sure you’re not missing out.
The virtual world of The Sandbox consists out of lands, and voxels fill up each of those lands. Visually it will remind many gamers of Minecraft, as both games have this Lego-inspired look to them. However, players are able to buy virtual land and implement any form of monetization. These virtual lands can become mini-games, adventures, virtual shops, extensions of actual webshops, a space for social gatherings, and so on.
The Sandbox is providing free tools for developers, gamers and content creators. Creators can use VoxEdit to make objects. In addition the Game Maker allows users to create interactivity on their virtual land. The Sandbox will also create a meta gaming experience. Players can for example do daily quests or weekly quests for their guild. This will earn players SAND, which they can sell or use to buy in-game items or virtual land. This system is called play-to-earn.
