Gods Unchained Sidechain Ready Within Two Months

Immutable wants to have their sidechain solution Immutable X, for the trading card game Gods Unchained, ready before the end of the quarter. In an elaborate blog post on Reddit game director Chris Clay also said that the exchange and minting of cards will be ready then. However, features for the sidechain will be rolled out over a longer period of time.

One of the problems Immutable needs to deal with, is on how those thousands of cards on the Ethereum blockchain will be transferred to the sidechain. Right now the team is thinking about copying the cards to the new blockchain. However, this will mean that players end of up with usable versions on Immutable X and useless versions on Ethereum.

By the sound of things, this idea has the preference of the development team. This solution doesn’t cost anybody gas, and ultimately creates an ecosystem where gas fees will no longer play a role. However, there are also alternative solutions. Each of those comes with its own pros and cons.

In addition Gods Unchained will introduce new features in the coming months. Immutable wants to launch a PTR, public test realm, where new features are tested before going live. Some feature might never go past these PTR tests, making it highly experimental. At the same time they consider the Star Store a big success, while several issues like for example reconnecting during a match and importing and exporting of decks will receive an overhaul.

Gods Unchained is often considered one of the biggest games within the blockchain space. Even though Axie Infinity seems to have taken over that leading position. When Immutable X launches, the play-to-earn mechanics for Gods Unchained will shine again, and it will possible to make money playing this trading card game.

What is Gods Unchained?

Gods Unchained is a collectible card game built on the Ethereum blockchain. The blockchain stores all ownership of the cards, giving players full ownership over their own set of cards. Players earn digital cards by playing the game. When they have two identical cards they’ll be able to mint these into one blockchain-based card. We call these cards non-fungible tokens, and the owners can trade, sell, lend, borrow, or use them in the game itself.

Future game mechanics will allow users to create limited edition cards from older cards, making existing cards more rare. In addition Gods Unchained can be enjoyed free-to-play, while players are able to earn cards by being active players. True play-to-earn mechanics there!
