Sports brand Adidas and supermodel Karlie Kloss are working together with digital fashion brand The Fabricant to create a digital version of the Wind.RDY Parka Jacket from the Adidas x Karlie Kloss fashion line. Creators can make digital interpretations of the actual clothing, and the twenty best creations will be auctioned on Known Origin.

The designers and charity organization Kode with Klossy, a non-profit founded by Karlie Kloss that supports young women to pursue their dreams in a digital world, will share the auction proceeds. The winner of the competition also gets 3000 euro, the runner-up gets 2000 euro and the third spot gets 1000 euro.

Designers can download CLO3D project files and some instructions. Designers will need industry standard software like for example CLO3D, Marvelous Designer, Blender, Maya or Cinema3D. Pro tip: Blender is available for free. Creations need to be submitted before February 15th.

The Fabricant & digital fashion

The Fabricant is a fashion house that already creates digital-only clothing. They have worked with mainstream brands like Puma, Adidas and Tommy Hilfiger. In May 2019 they created Iridescence, a ‘blockchain dress’ which sold for 9500 dollars. Their newly designed Atari clothes can be worn by digital avatars soon.

In September this year it became clear that Gucci is one of the major brands betting on digital fashion. They see digital fashion as an expansion of their business and have been creating digital versions of their physical designs for a couple of years now. At the same time there’s an increasing demand from consumers to express themselves through personal profiles and also avatars.

Earlier this month Digitalax published their whitepaper to create a standard for digital clothing and its distribution. It sure looks like personal avatars, digital fashion and identity in the metaverse are topics we will be covering a lot more in the near future.
