Major Trading Weekend for NBA Top Shot

NBA Top shot cool cats moments drop

Over the weekend NBA Top Shot had more than 1 million dollars in peer-to-peer marketplace transactions in only 24 hours. In addition Dapper Labs sold for more than 3 million dollars of collectible moments during that week. These numbers underline the general interest in NBA Top Shot, and imply a bullish sentiment for non-fungible tokens, blockchain technology and the Flow blockchain.

On Friday Dapper Labs announced they had 450 thousand dollars in marketplace sales in one day only. That record didn’t even last the weekend, as NBA Top Shot reached one million dollars in marketplace trades from Saturday to Sunday morning. In total NBA Top Shot has seen more than 12 million dollars in sales and trading.

At the same time the number of active collectors is increasing. NBA Top Shot is only in beta and is already approaching 10 thousand collectors. Tuesday 1AM UTC Dapper Labs will release Cool Cats Packs, which will feature ‘hype plays from the league’s up-and-coming stars’.

NBA Top Shot is all about collecting video fragments of awesome moments in basketball matches, featuring some of the biggest stars in the NBA. The most popular moments sell for thousands of dollars, and these could very well come from a 10 dollar pack.

NBA Top Shot stealing headlines

In the past week the digital collectible platform has made the headlines in several occasions. One moment of LeBron James sold for more than 26 thousand dollars. While another LeBron moment sold for 18 thousand dollars a few days earlier.

Collected moments can be kept or sold to somebody else who’s interested. The majority of cards on the marketplace cost a few dollars. This makes collecting moments in NBA Top Shot very accessible for everybody.

The strength of the project is twofold. First of all Dapper Labs made the Flow blockchain in such a way that on-boarding into NBA Top Shot is frictionless. Users will have no problems with private keys and gas fees.

Second, these digital collectibles are officially licensed by the NBA. They are the real deal and feature stars like for example LeBron James, Spencer Dinwiddie and many more. These collectibles come in different rarities, because of this prices for collectibles go from 1 dollar all the way to a couple of thousand dollars.
